Honestly it's probably great, I bought it thinking this could be cool and fun. About 10 minutes in hacking the night club, I was just thinking to myself, why play this when I could just go do some CTF's or HTB or whatever.

It gets a little too complicated without offering enough information to guide players into when to use certain tools. If you're looking for a hacker simulator that's more user friendly, look to Hacknet instead.

I would not suggest this game. I would also not NOT suggest this game. It's okay-ish, with some pro and cons. Compared to other games in the genre, is not as compelling, fresh and thrilling -but also not as dated- as Uplink; it's not as polished and well written -but also not as repetitive- as Hacknet; it's not as realistic nor ambitious as NITE Team -but it's also not a rushed cash grab. The game is... average. You see some efforts in the story, some cool concepts, some spark of bright ideas, that are squashed by the utter cheapness of the execution. PROS Good story, evolving at a steady pace, with some branches and spinoffs Multiple endings, that do not really change anything but they are there Reference to current economy, politcs and news, with a hint of sarcasm but still very on the nose. Writing could have improved Some brilliant attack vectors in some missions, requiring for a change some actual brain work. "IRL" missions are a new variation on the genre, but unfortunately the execution is not up to the task. Soundtrack is pretty good CONS "Hacking" is quite unrealistic, simplified and mostly spoon-fed. Tutorial/story skips over some very important commands and concepts, leaving at times the user stranded Interface is a MESS. window management sucks, text management sucks, file management sucks. So much space for quality of life updates (resizing windows, saving texts, moving files etc) Graphic is very "asset flippy", almost all you see is a model from some free, low quality library, sometimes clearly shoehorned into the plot. Plenty of AI artwork throughout the game. I am not an AI luddite, but the quantity and low quality of the images showing the "stable diffusion reek" is disturbing. That's a game that you would pay $5. I bought it on sale for $10 and I feel like I overpaid. The full story takes about 8-10 hours and there is very little replayability.

The command line arguments are a little simple, but I guess they are the level of detail they should be for the missions created in this game. I can see how people would easily get lost if the "puzzles" were too complex or you didn't have any background in this area. That being said, this is a pretty fun experience that makes you feel like a hacker.

It's pretty accurate (one of the most in hacking games), but not really realistic, maybe around 30% for basic OSINT and networking, and it’s pretty fun, especially with physical attacks where you have to infiltrate. Commands are super simplified for obvious reasons, and the malware and exploits use real names and work in a similar way, but instead of crafting them you just buy and use the payloads. Making it fully realistic would feel more like a job than a game, so what it offers is both accurate and fun, which is awesome and honestly a really good mix. Having multiple desktops to switch between terminals and the underground web and hackify instead of having 20 things open would make it much better.
