There were a few softlocks I experienced that had me restarting my game. But other than that, this game is incredibly fun. It's just enough of everything, and its addicting

Still playing, so will update this more later. So far, it's a really enjoyable cozy experience. It's a very surface-level game: there's nothing in the way of deeper meaning or hidden secrets. You collect fruit, people order fruit concoctions, you produce them for money, you spend the money to upgrade and maintain your truck to hold more fruit for you to collect... etc. rinse and repeat. While that sounds simplistic (and it is), there's still a real sense of progression under it all that is *very* satisfying. Finding a new fruit and exploring combinations reveal further discoveries, which feels really good. Developing your truck, organizing your fruit, and decorating your space give sublime cozy vibes. In-game music is great, shame it's not longer - though there might be different stations on different islands. As for the not-so-good: The optimization is *not* great. Very CPU-heavy and burdens my 14700k for the first 5-10 minutes while everything initializes, I assume. Only running a 4060, but given the graphics, it should be running smoother than it does. (Darktide, a game significantly more visually intensive, consistently runs smoother than Fruitbus). I usually hover around 120 fps, but there's lots of cases where it drops and stays at or below 60 fps in some areas, or oddly goes down to the mid 30s even while inside the truck. It's a shame to see so long after release, especially from a tenured development team. This would be fine in an alpha state, but you obviously shouldn't need a 9800X3D and a 70/80/90 card to run this very low-graphic game smoothly, without stuttering or large frame jumps. There needs to be a warning about flashing lights given how the sun interacts with the vehicles' dash when you're driving, especially during sunrise/sunset. I avoid driving at these times specifically. It's extremely distracting, and probably a cause for concern for some people. Finally, there have only been two glaring bugs encountered so far, both easily resolved. My counters ceased to function as counters and anything placed on them would instead simply drop through them to the floor. And, secondly, the fruit crates did the same thing: Fruit dropped through the bottom and became hidden underneath the crate floor. Both issues were resolved by removing and replacing the shelf and crate respectively. 7/10, but scratches a nice itch. Grab it when it goes 40% off. TL;DR: Immaculate cozy vibes with a very simple loop where progression feels good and meaningful; optimization is sub-par at best and there are only a few glitches.

What....A....GAME!! I haven't had a game that sent chills through me like this game in a long time. The vibes of the game are exactly like the trailer - just chill driving and food prepping. The game is relatively short but packed with a good time. The people are all vibrant, the colors and world is just darling. My only complaints are two-fold: --I wish there was more food spread around the world, not just city/ points of interest locked. I wish some of the food could be found spread around the islands in neat lil pockets. --There isn't more! This is a cozy game I could easily dump hours in with finding perfect food combos, new areas, more truck upgrades, etc.

I LOVE FRUITBUS!!!! I fell in love with it from the second I saw the trailer on wholesome direct. I sorta lost track of time and didn't realize it already came out but bought it INSTANTLY! I haven't finished it yet but I'm in the very final stretch. I wasn't expecting to enjoy the story so much- I definitely teared up a few times. I love how well developed and interconnected all the mechanics were. I love putting gasoline in my salads. I encountered very few bugs, none of which that persisted on a relaunch (apart from 2 fruit I just discarded because they were bugged, absolutely nothing life ruining lol). The world is so lovely to explore, and foraging didn't feel super exhausting and I did very minimal backtracking which kept the potential tediousness of driving around down. My only complaints are that the main cooking styles of the final island were confusing to figure out. I just had to look up a video of someone else doing them. And also, I don't like the level design as much..... I personally would've preferred it if islands 2 & 3 were swapped or something because number 2 was my favorite! Still having a blast finishing it out though. Designing my fruitbus is so much fun :D Played on steam deck+PC. Personally preferred kb+m layout but I played mostly while travelling on SD with controller and just turned down graphics a bit. If you're seeing all these reviews about bugs, I'm glad I ignored them and bought it anyways. Maybe with graphics turned down if your PC specs are mid range because optimization could definitely be a bit better, but game is still beautiful and fantastic.

If I were to describe this game in a single word, that would be: quaint. This is a very calm, very charming and very heartfelt little game here. I won't lie, it has some technical problems and a lot of little bugs that will grate on your nerves from time to time. But the game-play is fun, the story is very enduring and lovely, and the character design, I feel, is very cute. Highly recommend this title if you're looking for a cozy sim with a big heart at it's core. Loved my play-through and will play again for a 100% achieve run for sure.

This game is so so fun! I really enjoyed being able to customize my Fruitbus, making recipes for people, and the variety of meals customers wanted. The story was also really heartwarming and made me cry at the end. So bittersweet! One critique I have (and something that I saw many people complain about before I bought the game) was the glitches and bugs. All the fruit you have in your bus is physics based, so sometimes things glitch out or disappear. However, these small glitches were not game breaking since you can usually either reload the game to fix them or just go find more of the fruit you lost. I would still recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a cute and cozy adventure. Have fun!

It is a very relaxing game, some parts you can just shut off your brain and listen to the game music or radio station. There are stimulating tasks that are fun and easy to do. Overall a really good game.
Beautiful Foundation, Tedious Execution.
Id give it Mixed rate. The game is well made, but there are caveats: I was under the impression that the game would be more focus on cooking. Instead, you spent most time on the road searching for fruit or veg and hauling it back to towns to then cook and serve. This game turns out to be massively padded and tedious chore! The emotional cooking narrative gets completely lost in the grind. Beautiful presentation, but it can't save flawed pacing. People are blinded by the emotional opening story and supposed ‘chill and calm’ vibes and art presentation. What is nice. Exceptional Visual Design: Think Slime Rancher with npc stop-motion animation. The stylized art direction is good. Granny's Story Has Heart: The voice acting for Granny (the only voiced character) is moving. Combining ingredients unlocks still-frame childhood memories where Granny explains her philosophy of helping people through food. Core Cooking Mechanics Are Satisfying: When you're actually cooking, it feels good. Cut, place, process, serve - the physical interactions work well. Watching customers react based on their preferences creates a nice feedback loop. True Open World Driving: You can drive and park your truck anywhere. The driving mechanics are simple but effective. A handbrakes and ignition sequences. No Pressure Design: No fall damage, no rush mechanics, no penalties for refusing customers. What’s not: Time Problem: You spend more time driving long distances to forage than actually cooking. For a game marketed as a cooking adventure, this is backwards. Chilies come from volcanoes, pineapples grow on trees requiring grappling tools, rare fruits demand lengthy expeditions and serving the right recipe for the stone altars. The "let nature provide" philosophy creates artificial scarcity that turns cooking into a chore. Tool and Resource Barriers: Essential tools (shovel, grappler, blender) are scattered across different shops on each island. Island 2 introduces wheat farming but requires serving a miller first to get a scythe, then cutting wheat, returning to the miller to grind flour - five tedious steps just to get flour for bread. Quest Variety Is Illusion: While quest names vary ("find musicians," "cater festival," "get banana topper"), they all reduce to the same fetch quest pattern: travel, acquire, return, repeat. Even special events like festivals just teleport your bus to prettier locations with no unique mechanics or catering challenge. No Economic Systems: Bizarrely, no NPCs sell produce - not even foraging characters. This forces the tedious travel loop. No Farming Mechanics: The game's biggest design flaw. You're forced into ingredient hunts across oversized islands. You cannot pick a spot to plant and grow anything. Hollow World Design: Beautiful but empty. Huge scale with sparse meaningful interest between locations. Character Design Confusion: Every character uses ambiguous pronouns. Dialogue attribution confusing. You can't tell who's talking about whom because everyone is a They Them for singular and multiple people. Technical Issues: According to others, there is poor optimization. No problem on my end though. Recommended if: You have infinite patience for fetch quests and prioritize aesthetics over gameplay efficiency. Skip if: You want to spend time cooking rather than commuting, expect quest variety beyond elaborate fetch chains.
