Extremely slow and clunky movement, with enemies that auto lock onto your position and follow your dodge paths. It can be fun, but slow dodge mechanics are not for me.

I played the demo and it was great. I paid for the game, and I could not get into the crafting menu. All the game kept telling me to do, was loot the dinosaurs, and sprint. But I could not loot the dinosaurs cause I did not have a knife. And I could not make a knife, cause I could not get into the crafting menu.
So I asked for a refund.

Requires a better tutorial for sure - I had a hard time understanding how to upgrade the camp. Still, love the challenge, will recommend it in advance. Will update the review after some time.

You are not able to save your game when you want. I had to finish the game after 2.5h of playing. Result? I had to start from beginning. Really?

Fun crafter shooting loop. Feels a bit like Stealing Creation or Dungeoneering from Runescape of yore, gathering materials to make a weapon to kill things better to make tools to gather materials... And the shooting mechanic is a good amount of fun.

This one's tough for me. On the one hand, every time I fire up Dino Path Trail I end up playing for at least an hour and have trouble putting the game down. On the other, there are some frustrations during playtime that I hope can be ironed out to make the game even better in the future.
I played the demo for DPT during Next Fest and it quickly become one of my most anticipated games of the year. The full release does not disappoint, though having more time to play it and more content to explore highlights some of the struggles that can be found for me personally.
I think my biggest negative for the game is the stamina system. It needs to be reworked. Nothing wrong with stamina systems at all; they can provide an interesting mechanic to balance out game play. But as of right now, the stamina system feels too restrictive from the first moment you begin a run. Stamina simply runs out too fast, doesn't refill quickly enough and there isn't enough once it does refill. I'm not exactly terrible with action rogue like games, but I haven't been able to get past the second stage in DPT after 4 hours of playtime, and I believe it's because of stamina. A basic dodge eats up such a huge chunk of the blue bar that I often found myself unable to move while a gang of enemies effortlessly surround me and end my run with glee. There's also a bounty mechanic that sees a bounty on the players head rise over game time. The higher the dollar amount for the player, the more enemies they can expect to encounter out and about. This rises too fast in my experience, meaning that the very first stage of a run can get messy really quickly, while the player is still working on acquiring the basics to get their build fleshed out. This, in tandem with the dinky stamina, can make runs frustrating.
Buuuuuuuut, not frustrating enough that I want to set the game aside and give up on it. What's here is obviously intriguing and fun enough for me to keep coming back. Perhaps I just need to git gud, perhaps this game is more difficult than Hades or other roguelikes and I just have to accept that. Whatever. It's still fun as f*ck. The setting is unique, the intricate management systems are super inventive, making each gameplay loop a blast as the player tries to find all necessary items to upgrade and maintain a unique and powerful build. Recipes/cooking, weapons/ammo types, alchemy/cothing: all of these systems sync well with one another and can make some really cool tools for the player to test out on the range.
Anyway, I still recommend this game because despite that one shortcoming, it's a blast to play and spend time with. If you're into games like Core Keeper, you'll definitely be into Dino Path Trail.
