It will not load on my old computer, it kicks back to the Stem page. I recently bought a new laptop and it does the same thing. Shows the intro then kicks back to Steam.

So fun! You can see the little horses, n' stuff, at the trough. N' like, the little workers building new homes and playing in the parks, n' stuff.

Somehow the game is working fine now. Very challenging/addictive. It was once one of my favorites back in the day, around 2005. I always maxed out the budget though. I never quite got the hang of it without using cheats, but now that it's working, I hope to play around with it more. The Sims 2 is also a favorite, starting for me in 2007. I couldn't believe what I had been missing. It was jaw-dropping some of the houses I came up with, too. Now that it works, it's like going back to where it all was before, except clean slate. Also, unfortunately, the screen size doesn't offer widescreen format, so it stretches it. Sims 2 offers widescreen, on the other hand. I recommend both games.

Hey so this game is old asf and there's been a long period where I haven't been able to launch it. But I can now! some recent developments and a decated community of modders have it functioning again. This is the ultimate true city builder and just has something that makes me keep coming back to play over and over. You'll need to tinker a bit and add some mods to get it all hunky dory check the guides and Simtroplios website and mod loader to find mods and learn more. I see a few people mentioning crashing I have also had this issue the age of the game means it should only be run on a single CPU core. This can be set in task manager. I can't get this game running over 1600 x 1200 resoultion I see some people have been able to but I am content to play this windowed at that resoultion full screen just put a black boarder around it. I have used SC4Launcher Ui to set this. There is another issue with using the save and exit and save and quit options with a modded game use Ctrl + S to save instead - see Simtropolis site and save warning mod. My game has been installed and modded over and over I've built a custom heightmap of Christchurch to build in. I my install of the game has some odd querks by now but still keeps surprising me and providing me enjoyment. The new mod loader is a gamechanger and makes the modding process a billion times cleaner and easier. Get building

This game is touch and go, it constantly crashes and you'll lose all your forward progress. its absolutely not worth it if you invest time into something just to watch it get wiped out because there is not quick save options or save over time.

How to stop the crash!! If EA put a little bit of effort to fix it formally it can still be a cash crop....

SimCity 4 is known as the best of the series, and I agree. Pros: + Zen-like city building gameplay, as simple or complex as you make it. No hand-holding past the optional tutorials, along with optional advisors on your side + Has charm, humor and lots of space to build a large array of different buildings and utilities + Great soundtrack + Decent visuals. Aged well too + You can manually drive/fly around your city in vehicles, and even talk to Sims via mic + No modern or scummy sales tactics + No unnecessarily high graphic fidelity and budget restraints on the size of your maps and city + Does not require EA app, account or always-online connectivity Cons: - No hd resolution settings - Will crash every so often, even on high end hardware. Save often Note: Add the following to your game's launch options in its properties: -intro:off -CPUCount:1 -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 The first skips the loud intro, the second stops crashes, the third and fourth allow custom resolution (change the forth to your own resolution. Keep x32 as the color depth. In conclusion, $20 is a bit steep considering its age, but it is well worth it on sale.

Still worth $50. Complete gaming experience unless hacked or misconfigured. Task manager->Details->Sim City->Affinity->1 core prevents crashes. -Windows 11 HP 13th i5 Intel
