★★★★★ [h3] Can't give up yet! [/h3] Hazelnut Hex was a delightful surprise for me. It's a retro-inspired arcade horizontal bullet-hell shoot-em-up. I love the cute and expressive art style! Everything about this game is oozing with charm, creative energy and the most important thing, it's so incredibly fun to play. In the developer's own words, "The challenge of the game wasn't 'can you beat this level', it was more 'how well can you beat this level.' You're not playing a level over and over again to beat it, you're playing because you're having a blast." The enemies and bosses are unique and fitting to the five different levels. The soundtrack is just amazing. Excellent replayability, there's 2 main difficulties and 3 different magic firing options. Good accessibility options like darkening the background and an option to change your hitbox appearance are nice! Highly recommend. I started eating cereal for breakfast everyday after this. Fantastic indie cute 'em up with a gorgeous artstyle and great soundtrack, featuring some classic Shmup gameplay and superb, arcade-style presentation. Small game but definitely worth checking out.

really fun to play, fun to score, cool and unique visuals, catchy music, and overall playful mood, it was great! also there's very good practice mode and two meaningful difficulties. what else would you want from a shmup? I'm not too much into horizontal shmups, but I liked it a lot. on a downside, visibility could be better and overall washed-out tone is kinda tiresome for my eyes. the mc voice was a bit annoying to my taste, especially compared to neko navy seiyu, but that's too much of a nitpicking.

Amazing colorful shmup with some of the best feels good OST, can't wait for PHASGANA.
