Great if like me you like to stack combos and find the build that will break the game and wreak havoc with a single move.

Really great little roguelike. Every new character feels different and interesting.

A big step forward from their previous game, Forward: Escape the Fold. Building synergies feels rewarding, but IMO the meta-progress is not engaging and the story is a bit cliché. The fighing is a bit monotonous, with the only feelable difference being your character skills. It has many modifiers to customise gameplay and a demo.

The game is almost addictive with the cool synergies you can big throughout each play. I always start weak and scared, and by the time I am at the final zone I am God. I once beat a final boss of a zone with literally 1 move. I recommend scaling up the difficulty of end bosses.

I would definitely recommend this game for roguelike deckbuilder fans, especially if looking for something mechanically different. It is impressive of how polished the game is and the plethora of quality of life features it has. It looks visually beautiful, it functions well (almost no bugs considering the different kinds of mechanics), the story is charming, and music is nice and relaxing. My only two critisisms would be the rarity distribution and power level of some cards and the luck system. For example a lot of the legendary cards feel very weak and some commons (relics especially), are run defining. Also considering the very large amount of cards, relics and powers, it is very easy to break the game in terms of balance. But I guess that this is something expected in roguelikes and maybe even desirable sometimes. And regarding the luck system, I am not sure how to feel about it. I love the idea behind it but the implementation is not ideal. Let's say that I am going for a frost build for example. There are relics that have an effect when the character receives frost instead of the enemy and I would get offered those relics as part of the luck offering. Obviously this relic would not be synergistic with my build but the game thinks it is. Another thing, is that the more frost cards I have, the more likely is that I will be offered another frost card. And this might not be always desirable as I might need some other abilities/functions in my build to balance it out, such as gold gain or healing. I might already have enough frost synergy by that point. I don't want to emphasise too much on the negatives though because I really enjoyed my time with this game so give it a try 😊

It's not very much fun and it gets boring really fast. I don't recommend this game unless you get a nice discount.

At first, it was pretty good. You really have to think before you move. Exploring new upgrades and the talisman system was pretty fun. After the campaign, there are lots of options to tweak with to increase replay value. That's also where the game peaks. Tt doesn't feel that different most of the time afterwards. Character and item balance is not okay. There are a few occasions, that bald dude is just purely luck-based when the tiles you can move on is random. By that time, you unlocked more powerful items too, the game becomes quite repetitive. After getting certain items and mods, either you win by just walking 8 outta 10 times. Otherwise, you know you have to start over after the first biome because scaling is not fast enough. And then you start to lose focus/patience and mess up more easily. The character illustrations and design is mid at best and did not save the gameplay at all. The worst is the looping background music. The first game I played in silence and felt better.
