If you love Baldur's Gate 3 give this game a try, as it's a play on the Tech vs Magic or having them co-exist to make something stronger, as of writing this haven't gotten through a lot but I am looking forward to when this game can get multiplayer coop and even more gameplay features that I wished were in BG3 (artificer mains where?)

I've logged a couple hours and so far I find it to be an enjoyable game. Some things I wish was better, overall character movement. Combat formations never seem to save and cause issues in combat. Would love to see weapon and gadget customization. (like add an extra part to change the effects or damage, or remove an item and it changes the abilities or damage) I love how you have freedom to move within the world, but it would be nice to have the ability to interact with more objects, environments, people. (Let us go fishing, maybe find some mini games, hidden Easter eggs/ items)

Cool feeling, good graphics and fun game. I'm a sucker for steampunk. Content is ofc slightly lacking since it's EA game atm when I write this but I have very high hope for this game when it's ready.

the story and worldbuilding is very fun and interesting (basically tech vs magic, magic users in this world become mutated if they use magic in places with high tech concentration, because the magic levels are too low, and the world mutates them because of that, technologists do propoganda to try and tell people that tech and magic can't be mixed in harmony and tells people that all magic is bad and tech is they way to go), gameplay is also quite fun, but I wouldn't recommened buying it right now(in early access) as the game is *extremely* unoptimized, it is absolutely impossible to get a stable 60fps with the game looking good, my laptop definitely isn't the best, but comparing it to how other games that look about as good if not better run on it,(Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, Baldur's gate) it's very very bad.
I'm going to refund this and wait until it's released to try it again.

Another game where I wish I could be more nuanced than "recommend" or "don't recommend". This is an EA game from, AFAICT, a solo developer, and it's a long way from where I'd recommend it without caveats but it's also good enough that I can't disrecommend it.
Beyond the problems of a single-developer EA game, there is one issue that makes me worried that it will never be among my fovorite games: Although it's clearly intended to be a modern re-envisioning of Arcanum, unlike the original it absolutely forces you to be a pure magician or pure techie. Worse than that, there are three classes of each, and not just abilities but equipment are locked to a single class - so your steam engineer can't use diesel equipment [!] and so forth.
Also apparently some clothing and armor is gender-locked, which is another way to frustrate a player by making loot unusable.
I'm going to give it another shot when the update comes out on July 17, but my gut tells me that this is at least a year from being fully-baked, and I'm concerned that the basic design issues I mention above won't be addressed.

Lots of promise but it needs work. I don't recommend buying but I don't think it deserves a negative review either. I enjoyed my time with it but i'd rather play when its finished. Purchased to support the devs in the meanwhile.

A very good Arcanum esque RPG with great potential. As it is in early access camera and character movement can sometimes be yanky, but so far I have never experienced bugs or had my character stuck. It needs quality of life and UI improvements, but I am satisfied with current progression and hope that game will someday be fully released.
