A hidden gem
I've never finished a Rubick's cube in my life but still decided to try out this relatively unknown game and was not disappointed. This is a fresh take on a classic game, much like Balatro and all the modern chess-likes (Shotgun King, Who wears the crown, 5d Chess etc.).
There are essentially three different chapters, each one offering surprisingly engaging and very creative puzzles on ever increasing cube sizes: 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4. Most puzzles consist of a tower occupying a square, a knight and different obstacles and enemies like "dark" knights and different types of cannons. You will usually be required to bring the knight adjacent to the tower. To this end you can rotate the cube or use different special ability cards but keep in mind you only have limited health and will take damage every time your knight ends up within the targeting range of an enemy. Take three damage and the puzzle is over.
If you make it alive to the spot near the tower you've completed the puzzle but you also get bonus stars for completing it within the optimal number of turns (displayed at the beginning of the puzzle) or for not losing any health.
And that's it. It's a simple recipe but a ton of fun. I'm currently doing the 3x3 puzzles and already they're a decent challenge, not too easy, not exceedingly difficult either.
Happy I stumbled onto this game and I definitely recommend it. Great for the occasional brain teaser, maybe in between playing something else.
