Vampire survivor clone.. and it's not that interesting. 1 hour in, and I don't know if I really want to keep going. Perhaps because there are no goals or tasks on the map that are interesting.. so it's just a lot of time running around. Didn't keep my interest.

totally recommend the game, it's a great game when your avalability is short or constatly interrupted like me with 3 kids. also, you might say that it looks a lot like a certain vampyre game but its different trust me, you want to know why? than buy the game and play. I had an issue while playing and the dev took care of it right away!! I bet that if you make it so far in my comment you gonna love the game. ;)

This game is diamond in the rough. It has some interesting ideas but as it is now they're not very well implemented or explained. The first couple of runs I found myself trying to figure out that the colours of slimes needed to match the enemies to do any real damage, as it goes unexplained in game or the explanation is easy to miss. Then once I felt like I understood the basic mechanics I began to feel the balancing issues.
The upgrades in the game vary between needed or unnoticeable. All of the upgrades are purely stat based and you don't get much variety in attacking enemies. You simply upgrade the slimes to do more damage, spin faster, or spin further away. The best upgrade being getting an extra slime and it almost feels impossible to do well if you don't happen to find a couple before the first boss spawns and there isn't a re-roll system to balance it out. You can also upgrade the ability to throw slimes but the usefulness of this ability is debatable, as if you throw a slime it means there's one less orbiting to protect you when enemies get close. Other upgrades effect your character or weapons and these feel very similar just upgrading pure stats and the game feels sluggish without a couple upgrades to your move speed and exp pickup range.
The game relies heavily on its progression system and the difference in a couple of meta game upgrades is huge and with the game-play being surprisingly hard for it's genre it makes it feel very slow.
Balancing dodging enemies, hitting with your orbitals, throwing your only defence for some range, swapping between 3 colours, trying to pick up exp, avoiding ponds with the wrong colours and with only 3 hits before you lose with almost no invincibility frames (un-upgraded) makes unlocking your first weapon and collecting currency much harder than you'd expect.
To unlock weapons you have to survive to the 10 min mark and before then, you'll have a boss that constantly changes colour and the third colour of enemy will start spawning at the same time, creating a situation where you have 3 different colours of enemies all running at you while a tanky boss chases you down. The enemies will also sometimes blend into the background as the sprites all have this same dark shade as their shadows that blends in with the scenery so it can be easy to not see them get close. It makes the game feel very frustrating to play as all it takes is to miss 1 enemy getting close to lose a run.
There also seems to be an odd pause and zoom that happened occasionally when items would drop. At first I assumed this was the tutorial that i'd been waiting for but it continues to happen in later runs, almost at random. it can really interrupt the flow of the game and feels almost like it's making fun of you when it zooms into a "red bat wing" that's dropped in a pool of red making it completely invisible.
This game needs some serious polishing and as an early access game going for pretty cheap it feels a bit mean to be giving a negative review but when most of the flaws surround the first few minutes someone will have with the game it needs addressing because no matter how much work or content you manage to put into the game if it only gets good after you've spent a few hours in it you might end up with people just refunding the game or just forgetting about it in their library.
Good luck to the developers and I hope I'll have to come back and change this review someday :)

Super promising for a lone developer and I feel like I already got my $2.99's worth hopefully in the future he'll add more maps and enemies cause personally for me once I beat something I don't really feel like re-running it unless it's like an arpg type game like last epoch diabler or path of exile. I think the slime mechanic is fun I didn't really test the weapon mechanic too much because the first weapon imo was just like upgrading a worst choice then the slimes because they're always present and have built in penetration, but I could see how the weapon system is basically allowing you to have skills like you would in a normal roguelite from the start of the game since you basically just bolster your already established abilities as you level.
