I have over 8500+ games in my library and have only played about 5% of them for any length of time because i get extremely bored very quickly so I am constantly buying a new game and then moving on. However, I have almost 40 hours in Mars Survivors and am still actively trying to 100% the game. I don't know why this game is so fun and addictive. The game has great graphics, awesome upgrades, controls work great, it has meta upgrades and a great learning curve. The bonus is that it is not in early access and works perfect on the Steam deck without heating it up. This is not like Vampire survivors, you actually have to have skills to progress, you have to monitor achievements and use the correct weapons to get the next weapon you need to progress. This is not a Vampire Survivor clone where you can just get a good build and then blaze through the game without any thought. You actually have to play this one. Saying that every survivor game is a Vampire Survivor clone is like saying that all fish are Halibut or that anything that tastes sweet is sugar! Besides, its only $4.99, I have paid a lot more for a lot less. Anyway, hope this helps someone.

Potential but so far its really aggravating. Enemies constantly teleport in which ever direction you're running so you are almost always getting surrounded, you can barley scale in the early game so you constantly get wiped out before the 5 minute mark, and no matter how well you play there's strings of unfair deaths. I play vampire survivor clones a lot, its my favorite genre, and this one has serious potential if they unfuck the kinks, also literally all bosses are just bullet sponges that you can easily avoid and kill once the extra enemies are done, they should feel more difficult.

This game is quite satisfying in terms of controls and difficulty. However, as the game progresses, the monster's respawn site appears in an unknown place, and if you bump into it while passing through it, you will immediately sense the impact. This is a serious error condition.

One of my best roguelite games with meta progression on characters and weapon evolution / combination. Able to unlock everything with this playtime. Worth every penny!

I havn't played 20MTD, I donno how is "similar". The game is not bad.
Pros:
- I like the graphics design. at least, it is not bad
- Got lots of upgrades. It should be good!
Cons:
- The Upgrade Ability doesn't help too much. I may be helpful at the normal stage. It makes no improvement for Hyper or Nightmare Mode.
- The Item Upgrade ability is too random. Now, I just wanna to get the build for Lighting and Ice. Every time I got , just another new item upgrade. it is very discourage.
- Just like the above points, I just discover three characters, two maps and 5 or 6 weapons. Then I stuck at least for a day and make no new discovery of ability of weapons.
- Since the Upgrade is too random and upgrade ability doesn't helped. Nightmare mode is just a "Hell". You can't kill the monster easily and got a tons of tons of monster spawn. Lots of the Experience left outside and you can't upgrade it.
- Hit box of the Monster to Character, it is too large. Every time the Character get hit without any reason. I observed for one time. Just a corner of wing of the bat just touch the character "a little bit". The HP deduce.
- Same as other players comment. Reload / Shooting ability is most important. It makes player feel no different for each weapons.
Suggestion:
- Need a Re-Roll / Selection Upgrade of Existing Ability / Provide a not discovered ability suggestion for level up. It will make the ability easy to upgrade and archive.
- Nightmare will level up much more more more more easily then current. It will make more sense.
- When I wanna to escape from the group of monster, DON'T SPAWN NEW MONSTER TOO FASTER AT MY SURROUNDING. You will never a strategic to defense or attack.
- BOSS PLS DON'T TELEPORT BESIDE CHARACTER SUDDENLY. I often die by this way
- For Strongest monster, the surrounding monster area should be larger! No way to escape especially for nightmare mode and DROP EXPERIENCE AFTER THEY DIE.
- Show Initial Item name for specially ability at Achievement screen or show a tooltip at the item upgrade of list of upgrade path below items. Otherwise, I donno the which ability that I need to upgrade.
- Provides an upgrade of the Individual Weapon ability instead of upgrading the weapon at play time. like reload / shooting speed.
- This game much more like an EA game. It is better to state as EA rather than a complete game.

This game is a low quality port as others mentioned. It look cool on videos, but it is bugged and un-fun.
There is no fullscreen or borderless. The enemies and even your companion sometimes vanish from screen then reapear. In this case your character get damaged by unknown. Hitbox seems off anyway.
I rarely do negative reviews, but Im very disappointed.
I started a refund already.

Mars Survivors is not a great survivors like. It fails to provide an entertaining game experience. The game is difficult, but the difficulty is not due to player skill or player choice, but rather by the game's design.
Starting from the first level, you have a pistol and a dude that dodges thing. So far, so good. It has a power up menu, and seems like a typical survivors like. However, like Vampire Survivors, extra characters/weapons are on the map. You go and pick these up and this I don't have much problems with. The problems is with the enemey density, enemy HP, and the game being in a state of struggling to survive or utterly dominating with no in between.
The power up menu is poorly designed. Upgrades you get in game offer 2x most of their max level bonus. Most are 3% per level, with things like revives being out of reach for a long ass time. I don't think there's a single thing in the menu that goes past 5% per level. Reload speed, firing speed, damage, none of these are incredibly helpful and push builds you otherwise would struggle with over the top. On top of this, part of the unlockables is certain... very basic additions. Movement speed, summon damage, there's a LOT of things in the power up menu locked behind achievements. And this doesn't help the casual player get far into this game since you have to specifically look in the achievements menu to find that.
So, what about build diversity? Most of my runs I end up going to the same build every time. Not out of lack of build variety, far from it. It's just the only way to live. There are two builds I can recommend. One is the ultimate ammo build. You grab lightning cores and the other lightning ability, and make it so every shot shoots a lightning bolt. Lightning cores has a second power up that it gives you a chance to reload 3 ammo on lightning damage proc. At first, this is how I did literally any build I wanted, but I had to get these two first.
The second build is more complex and more likely to fail. There is a late game evolution that gives you 1 magazine size but in return boosts your reload speed. You couple this with things like enemies explode into smaller projectiles on death, penetration, and bouncy bullets, you have an entire screen full of projectiles. This one is the build that requires the most things to make it go right, but once it does, nothing can kill you.
So, why is there only two builds that can function? Enemies do not care about knockback, and swarm you faster than you can kill them since you have to reload eventually. That reload is the primary reason why I've had most of my death and got surrounded. Enemies spawn in too fast, and have more movement speed than me. If your build has no knockback or doesn't kill everything on the screen immediately, or CC in general, you just die. I typically included freeze in my build for this reason, since if I have a circle of ice sculptures around me, enemies can't get close.
So let's say you beat the first level. You unlock hyper mode, and eventually hurry mode down the line when you get another item on a different level. I have yet to find a build that can get online fast enough to attempt to do both modes on at the same time. In fact, most of the time hurry mode is too difficult on its own. Enemies are too numerous and surround you extremely easily. I burned through my revives on most characters, and the only time I did live until I got a broken build was on the 7 HP character. Adding two additional difficulties that average player won't even be able to clear is... mind boggling, to say the least. I've never seen hyper/hurry implemented so poorly that I don't use either because the game becomes too difficult.
Later on, you get something much more powerful than power ups called tech. You have to reach level 40 with a character or weapon to get a tech, there are multiple of them. These are miles more powerful than anything in the power up section, and you get multiple of them through the match. It's a choice of 3 like the other things you have, but rerolls don't function. At least I don't think they do. Things like getting more reload speed and attack speed for setting things on fire, or icing them. Or just a flat 50% all your projectiles have a chance to freeze or burn. There's a lot of goodies in here, and I would have liked them... if they influenced the game in a meaningful way.
Despite how powerful tech options are, the two builds I listed above are still the only builds I can use. Full summon unless I use the 7 hp character just doesn't work. Not to mention tech requires a lot of money, but I yet again got the 7 HP character, got a rocket launcher, and did my second build using the third difficulty option (nightmare) and hyper to get an absurd amount of money on a level called The Arena. Now the main currency that locked progress is laughably easy to get, and I just gave up caring enough to complete the game.
Character selection doesn't matter. Your build matters more than any character. Only the 7 hp guy is worth taking because he can live long enough (maybe the first guy, I haven't used him) to get an OP build. If you want some recommendations, I'd suggest Vampire Survivors, Soulstone Survivors, or Halls of Torment. Halls of Torment is one of those you have to beat your head against a wall, but you eventually CAN get it rolling. I have yet to get things rolling with this game, and you can see how much of it I've completed with just my achievements.

I have only played one round so far, but i want to get out first impression and a WARNING ! foremost.
If you have played "20 Minutes Till Dawn" (20MTD) you will kinda know this game.
It feels like a Copy-Cat.
Many, if not most, (!) upgrades are the same as in 20MTD, often straight up 1:1 copy.
You get small bosses and normal bosses. Those get you upgrade crates. Those from real bosses will net you good upgrades which often do reduce your max health (same as in 20MTD)
2. char will have more starting HP (same as in 20MTD)
Bosses will create an arena, those outer lines will also look very similar to the ones found in 20MTD.
Even the reload animation is the same.
Translation (in my testing case english) is just a "google translation". I guess most other than the native language will be.
Is it just a reskin of 20MTD ?
No.
It does bring some new things to the table you'll find in other survivors games.
Like Magnet which attracts all loot/exp. Some Power-Ups in the field.
Gold Ressource for permanent upgrades/new characters.
Has more colorful graphics than 20MTD.
So if you haven't played 20MTD it might be worth buying.
Otherwise i'd wait.
Wouldn't have thought that i'd buy like a 80-90% rip-off from 20MTD.
Can't recommend in it's current state.
