Unfortunately this game looks good on the surface but is not really that fun. It doesn't feel like you can improve your skill and get further. The only way to get further is meta progression which rubs me the wrong way. The level ups in game feel inconsequential. There is no real synergies involved and most upgrades are minor. The active abilities of the characters also feel weird as it seems optimal to just keep mashing the 1-4 buttons and the space bar. The rotating shield is a cool idea but not really used well enough in my opinion. Sadly I will not recommend this game.

A very unique and fun little roguelite game! It's got a satisfying game loop with lots of player choice in upgrade, character loadouts, great sound effects, and epic arcade-style music with an announcer's booming voice encouraging you on. It's short (took me around 5 hours to beat the first time), but there's plenty of replayability in trying out different builds and seeing what works well. This game does suffer from several issues though. Elaborated on below: The UI is can get quite buggy, with the tutorial itself even having some UI bugs when pausing during it, and upgrades not registering correctly and upgrading the wrong hero or building. The game is badly optimized. This is the dev's first go at a 3D game in the Godot Engine, and it kinda shows. The performance optimization is really not good - my laptop is 7 years old with an integrated GPU, which isn't modern but certainly not ancient - yet the game absolutely chugs at times at 10 - 20 FPS. Tinkering with settings doesn't help any either, no matter how much I turn off or lower fancy effects. This doesn't look like the kinda game that should demand a performant GPU (it's pixel graphics with 3D imposters using 2D pixel textures), though I understand making high-speed 3D games in Godot can be a challenge, having attempted it before myself. Finally, increasing characters base level (one of the main meta progression ways to get stronger) is very poorly designed. Character stats are allocated in random areas depending on the additional levels you've earned, when I would really like to choose for myself how to allocate the extra starting stats a character gets, like how it happens inside the Tower. This means getting optimal starting stats (like high starting strength on a high level gladiator) means rerolling again and again until you get the stats you want. Combined with the game lagging quite badly on the upgrade menu's, this gets really annoying very fast. Finally, the game can crash mid-run semi-frequently. Not the worst, since runs are short and you keep the currencies earned from the run, but still annoying to run into. Despite all these issues, Gorgon Shield is addictive and fun! Highly recommended, especially for the cheap price point. (though again, beware if your GPU is bad otherwise it might be an unpleasant experience)

When I got the game I wasn't really expecting to get too into it, but I was wrong: It is quite addicting. I have played quite a few other roguelites, but none with this specific set of features. The game is sort of a tower defense, revolving around the concept of having up to 4 units standing in each side of a platform which you'll spin based on the current state of things: Maybe you need to heal a unit, maybe one is good with ranged damaged and you want to position it accordingly or maybe one that does high damage through AoE skills doesn't really have the defense to tank enemy hits and you want them safe, etc. The game has a few issues: - Some crashes here and there which make you lose the progress on your run (but at least save your gold and runes); - Some UI elements seem to give incorrect information: * The option to "increase agility" states it would take 0.5 seconds off your ranged attack cool down, but it actually takes only 0.1; * When choosing a path between towers you're shown which doorways you'll encounter in the way, but that information apparently does not reflect the ones that actually show up. None of the issues I found were bad enough that they would ruin the experience though. Overall, I think Gorgon Shield is a pretty fun indie title and it deserves your attention.

Short description: You have a party of up to 4 heroes, each on their section of an elevator shield that can be rotated to assign hero to a different quarter. Each quarter can be: defending the elevator shield from incoming monsters, healing, finding gold, ... Each floor lasts for a given time (like a TD wave). You typically have to rotate to heal a given hero, or loot if your best melee hero is also the best at looting, and no opponent is there at the moment... But more often than not, choosing the right hero for the right task will force you to make very suboptimal compromises with the other (like putting the mage in melee so that your frontline fighter can heal). After your party demise, you can use the gold found to purchase permanent improvements. It is a "small light game", but I found it hard to put down, and I liked the twist on the TD/autobattle formula.
