Despite first appearances it's surprisingly kind of fun (with a few exceptions). There's a ton of levels to go through and I enjoy how you can mess about after escaping (you can even go back in and attempt to fight the fire or rescue people if you'd like). There's numerous hazards to contend with and a good sized apartment building you're in for the game, and it reflects it pretty well how you can get trapped and basically just pray the firefighters get to you before the fire does.
There's a few problems, and I wish there were some changes:
-There are no sprinklers. Not sure what it's like for where the dev is at, but a building like this would generally be required by law to have them in a lot of countries.
-Lack of detail. No lights on the ladder truck that arrives, no visual lights for fire alarm, things like that. There's an ambulance shown in a single level. It'd help make things feel much more "alive" if the ambulance drove up to it's spot first, then the ladder truck. A 2nd ladder truck or, if possible, fire engine arriving would be nice for visual aesthetics. Related to this, it's strange to me how the emergency exit signs are on the floor rather than up above near the ceiling.
-Shadows are completely messed up. You pretty much need to turn them off for the game to be playable. Right now it's too dark inside. Windows and lights seem to have little effect.
-After the fire department is called just 4 firefighters arrive in a single ladder truck, but only 2 of them do anything. I would suggest that the other 2 bring people that's still in the building to safety (prioritizing the injured), and better yet, carrying YOU to safety if you're unable to walk. The 2 that do something only try to put out the fire (with one of them giving you a mask to breathe), and they often get stuck or don't aim well.
-The volumetric smoke is pretty awesome, but it often gets blocked by literally nothing, or there'll be a column or wall in the way that doesn't block it's movement. It'd be neat if it would visually bend around corners and such (in other words, if everything in the building had "collision" for the smoke.
-The entire game takes place at the same apartment building. Adding a different structure would be nice at some point. Perhaps a regular single family home or a small office building.
-There's a problem when calling for help that bothers me. For some reason your guy asks people to call the police rather than the fire department.
Despite the issues, I honestly had fun with this game. This is coming from the perspective of someone involved in a lot of emergency games, communities, and plenty of friends in emergency services.
