AI LIMIT genuinely surprised me. I went in expecting a decent indie take on the Soulslike formula—and walked away thinking this might just be my favorite non-FromSoft entry in the genre. Honestly? I might even prefer it to Dark Souls 2. It’s that good.
Don’t be fooled by the anime-style visuals or the waifu protagonist. The world of AI LIMIT is grim, broken, and steeped in despair. The atmosphere is heavy, and like the best Soulsbornes, the story is pieced together through item descriptions, cryptic dialogue, and environmental storytelling. It nails that melancholic, post-apocalyptic mystery vibe without leaning too hard into over-the-top exposition.
If you enjoy the feel of Dark Souls 3, you’ll feel right at home here. The combat is fast and responsive, with some unique twists: no stamina bar, but instead a Sync Meter that builds as you deal damage and depletes when you take hits. That meter fuels your spell abilities and weapon arts, adding a cool risk-reward layer to every fight.
Parries are in—and they’re excellent. It’s the classic Souls-style parry (with stagger and crit opportunity), not a Sekiro-style rhythm test. You can parry everything, though early on it’ll cost you sync meter, making it a tactical choice rather than a free reflex win.
I’d rate the difficulty as close to Dark Souls 1, maybe a bit higher. If you’ve played games like Elden Ring or the Lies of P DLCs recently, you’ll probably find AI LIMIT more manageable—but that’s not a bad thing. It strikes a great balance between being tough enough to keep you focused, without becoming frustrating or punishing for the sake of it.
Bosses took me around 1–15 tries on average, which felt great. I’d say this is a fair entry point for newcomers with a bit of patience and love for the genre.
Level design here is top-tier. Secret areas, hidden paths, well-placed enemies—it’s all tight and thoughtfully built. AI LIMIT also captures that beautiful contrast FromSoft games are known for: broken, decaying environments set against hauntingly beautiful architecture and vistas. It’s easily the best visual tone I’ve seen in an indie Soulslike.
Honestly, I just wish it were longer. The game is more than worth the price as-is, but I would have happily paid double for twice the length if it meant maintaining the same level of quality throughout.
Final Thoughts
AI LIMIT is an outstanding Soulslike that’s been unfairly underrated by some of the early reviews. With smooth combat, a compelling world, and fantastic level design, it easily stands toe-to-toe with the genre’s best. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just Souls-curious, this is one you shouldn’t sleep on.
If this is what Sense Games can deliver out the gate, I can’t wait to see what they do next.

AI Limit is a very solid sci-fi ARPG, and it's pretty accessible for newer Souls-like players. I enjoyed the story and characters, it's easy to follow along and i'd be excited to stumbled upon random NPCs while exploring. Shirley in particular is well voice acted and has an emotional journey I liked her questline the most. The combat is tight and feels responsive, parrying isn't super hard and their is a decent amount of outfits/hair and weapons/spells to mess around with. Honestly you don't even need to parry I barely used it since I preferred to use the claw ability which uses the same slot, that's one issue I had was both your spell and arm only have one slot. The level design is good but feels kinda empty at times, the lack of much colour or set dressing makes it seem kinda unfinished. The bosses are great albeit a little on the easy side aside from two of them, which honestly I didn't mind however on NG+2/3 they were not such pushovers. The game won't blow anyone away graphics wise but I like the art design and the performance is flawless and played amazing on my OLED Ultrawide, yes it support Ultra-wide out the gate. I did unfortunately encounter a couple of minor bugs and some animations mishaps, but the quality overall is noteworthy compared to some others in the genre. It's a fun game that probably won't blow anyone's socks off but is a solid entry in the genre and a good one for beginners, if you like anime style action RPGs/Souls-likes i'd check it out. 8/10

AI LIMIT was my first soulslike game. I bought it for the anime girls.
**Gameplay:** I had an incredible time. The combat is extremely fulfilling and it always felt fair. Parrying feels very nice to pull off. I am by no means a souls veteran, but I found the difficulty to be quite appropriate. The longest I spent on a boss was 2-3 hours (and it was quite a good boss!). I mainly used a sword and parried things, but I appreciate that the game also encourages other playstyles. For example, there's a very clear way to make a strong build that mains the usage of spells.
**Exploration:** At some point the world starts to open up and become more non-linear, with different areas starting to connect to each other. Moreover, a few areas here or there have some interesting gimmicks that keep the exploration and gameplay fresh.
One thing that's kept me from trying out soulslikes is how creepy and unsettling they tend to be for me. I didn't get that _too_ much from AI LIMIT's environment and/or enemies. So that's nice.
**Other stuff:** Music is pretty good, the cast of characters is great, the general story and lore is interesting, and the world design is very pretty.
My main complaint is that I couldn't get the True Ending, and there was no way I could tell when the point of no return was for getting an ending. Moreover this point locks you out of progressing on the main sidequests, which made me miss some interesting content. Unfortunately there appears to be no way to revert to an earlier point, so I may have to start a NG+ for the more satisfying ending.
**Conclusion:** That complaint aside, I really enjoyed my time with this. Despite the slightly sour note regarding the endings, I gladly give AI LIMIT a strong 9/10. I hear that a DLC is in development, which I'll be very happy to buy and play.

Has a lot of good points but the execution isn't exactly the best.
None of the OST is memorable.
The gameplay is pretty fun, a bit easy if you've played other souls games but it's pretty fun nonetheless.
Some of the main boss fights are dope but nothing too memorable.
The questlines are pretty decently written especially shirley and delphi's one.
The devs did their best and came out with an alright product, would recommend playing it if you like games like code vein.
Solid game 7/10

This game kinda blew my mind.
You start as a "nobody" with amnesia. In the sewers. slow pace, easy to grasp (dodge, sync rate, attack, parry).
And then the world opens up... And damn it felt great. Especially the way zones are interconnected (dark souls 1 and bloodborne style).
NPC's are really interesting and their questlines not that "difficult" to follow.
Love the story in game and the way you put the pieces together while gathering documents, reading "memories" and linking branches (bonfires).
Took me 50 hours to beat and getting almost everything in one single playthrough and I'm already thinking in starting NG+ to get all spells and weapons.
This is, truly, a great souls like game. And really well optimized.
Good work, devs. You deserve all the praise!
It seems we are getting a DLC at some point as well. Can't wait!
If you like Dark Souls 1, Code Vein and Bloodborne then get this game. Worth every penny!

About halfway done and I got to say I love this game. Bosses are fun, weapons are fun, world design seems to follow the Dark Souls 3 ethos which I loved. All in all, a really really solid experience, devs should be proud of their work.

AI Limit is an amazing game and I really enjoyed it a lot. The gameplay is smooth not clunky at all and it feels satisfying when you hit enemies with the weapons. There are some nice bosses, good music and story is nice too. Even the side quests are really nice and one can easily do all of them in one playthrough. It also filled the void in my heart Code Vein left.
The game is relatively easy if you're a souls like fan but still some bosses will give you run for your money. The new mechanics are a nice touch too in the souls like genre. AI Limit and Khazan both came out on the same day so some people might overlook this for Khazan but AI Limit is as good as Khazan In my opinion. If you're a souls like fan like me then you should absolutely try this out because I know you'll love it 💖
