investigations 1 has it's weak spots and can drag, but investigations 2 is phenomenal. its honestly my favorite game in the ace attorney franchise, having some of my personal favorite cases oat (sorry T&T you still are amazing). i'm glad they finally localized this. both games are an experience worth experiencing and i recommend yes go play!!!

So far my second favourite of the Ace games (behind Chronicles), it's got some good solid mysteries, and a couple of twists I didn't actually see coming. The course of Justice in this 'Can't Believe It's Not America And That's Because It Was Originally Japan' country is still as ludicrous as ever, and makes my decades of watching procedurals twinge something fierce at times. So it helps that NONE of the action here actually takes place in a courtroom; our favourite prosecutor is going Street. This makes it more about interrogating suspects, finding clues and building a case, and thus less static and court-bound. It's a lot of fun at any rate, recommended.

I'm quite a fan of the Ace Attorney series, and this game is definitely a worthy entry. I won't cover the presentation - visuals and audio - that much since they haven't drastically changed. Needless to say, the OST is amazing as always, with one caveat I will mention later. Gameplay-wise, it's an improvement over the original Phoenix trilogy. My main gripe with Phoenix is the need to constantly jump between scenes to trigger events, which is way less relevant here. The pacing and flow of the gameplay are better and smoother. When it comes to confrontations, they're pretty much unchanged except for Mind Chess sections introduced in AA: PG. I don't think Mind Chess is that interesting in comparison to the standard "press, present" confrontation, but it's not terrible either. I also liked how there are practically no "supernatural" elements, such as spirit mediums. All the evidence and information you get is pure intellectual work with some occasional help from high-tech devices. It plays nicely with the narrative centred around Miles, who's a more calculating and composed character overall. Moreover, the majority of the cases do not happen in court, and you're not arguing against a prosecutor. It was refreshing to order Gumshoe around and be on the offense. That being said, this contrast is only possible because the original trilogy exists, so I wouldn't say Miles is strictly "better" than Phoenix as a protag. Continuing with the characters, the rest of the cast is also great. I enjoyed the villains, although in AA: I I found the arch-villain less interesting than the opponents before. The supporting cast is amazing too, especially in AA: PG. There are some new faces and some familiar ones, both as colourful and captivating as ever. The cases themselves are quite interesting, and AA: PG in particular has some of my favourite cases across all games. There were a couple of instances when they felt too restricting with what kind of evidence the game expected, but nothing too serious. I was also surprised by the more dramatic scenes. One of them in AA: PG really hit hard, which I didn't initially expect. Being objective, however, I must also mention some negatives: 1. The confrontation OST from AA: I is just incredible. Sadly, AA: PG uses a different one I didn't enjoy to the same degree. 2. As I mentioned before, some of the evidence felt too restricting and narrow. 3. Sometimes it felt more as if I was being dragged by the narrative instead of following along and coming up with conclusions at my own pace. Imagine a scene where the MC says "this is what happened, now I only need to prove it" while you, the player, have no idea what actually happened nor what the MC is talking about. It's an issue with all AA games, though. 4. Narrative themes felt a bit too repetitive at times. Phoenix also does it with hammering certain dialogues and flashbacks over and over. It was as if they expected people to take extended breaks between cases, which I didn't, so I didn't really need the same information repeated three times in a row in three cases. To sum it up, it's a total banger. The game is intriguing, mysterious, funny, and at times poignant. A definite recommend. P.S. There are also tons of extras, such as sprites, character models, concepts, OSTs. Of course it's not something you would spend hours on, but it's a neat thing to have.

I could say a lot of the Miles games, but I won't be too mean, I will say though, you should definitely play them at least once, especially this collection with its gorgeous art style and incredible gallery, the game itself? It does have one of the best cases in the entire series AND the worst case in the entire series, after all... extraterritorial rights ;)

My recommendation of this game comes with a caveat: this one's really only for the Ace Attorney die-hards because the cases in these games can be a little rough at times. That being said, this is a great port with a great localization that smooths over a lot of the rough edges that the original release had.

Don't play this till you've played the OG trilogy, but you can definitely play this before Apollo Justice. The second Investigations game is the greatest Ace Attorney game ever made. Nuff said.

A much better overall entry than Apollo Justice Trilogy. It shows that this was made soon after the original trilogy making it more of a true sequel than those games, both in terms of audiovisuals and quality of the cases. A must play for any Ace Attorney fan, especially the second game (The Prosecutor's Gambit), though as is usual with these, the two games form a single unit and the cases build up to the ultimate finale so skip only at your own peril.
