It is a crime that this game hasn't found an audience. It's extremely good, and it actually has completely unique mechanics instead of cribbing everything from Celeste.

I picked this up because i felt like it would fill a similar niche as celeste as a speed/precision platformer and it did pretty well, the game is very fun but i have a few minor things. before my gripes i will preface with saying this game was a lot of fun, and it was completely worth buying it at full price. i got very sucked into this one and 100%ed the game in a few days with about 13 hours. the hard levels were a really fun challenge and i never felt frustrated with the game, any death i had was my fault and it felt totally fair. however! the game is way too easy until like the 4th area, i was able to gold medal basically every level up to that point on my first try. i was hoping for something with a bit of a challenge and it took a while for me to feel like i was struggling ever. even in the mountain stage the normal levels were easy, but solving a puzzle and getting every collectible will let you open up challenge levels, and its at that point where i think the game really hits its stride. the challenge levels in the mountain and heaven kingdom were SUPER fun and the best part of the entire game imo. the puzzles to get INTO the challenge area are... a bit to be desired. you need to find "hints" throughout the level to get clues to solve the puzzle in the hub world. issue is these puzzles are kind of basic and not that fun to me. the first is a code decyphering, not that hard and a fine introduction to the challenge zones. the 2nd one was a "discover the order" logic puzzle which took me a while, and the final one was a "find a way to equalize some scales" which i LOATHED (i looked up a guide for that one because i just did not care) the collectibles were pretty easy to find for the most part. the three times i struggled to find a collectible they ended up being right behind the start of a level every time, some levels have these fairy jars that lead you to the more hidden collectibles but half the time they didnt help me because the collectibles spot just seemed obvious. usually if you saw a spot in a level with a round indent there was a collectible there. maintaining speed is a bit of a challenge sometimes, if you jump it doesnt keep your momentum but it sets you at a specific jump speed, additionally there are rings all over the levels that will set your speed to a specific level and it felt kind of bad to be zooming just to be slowed down by these rings. in the later levels your platforming is more precision based and less speed based so its not much of an issue but lots of the early levels felt a bit clunky because of how often your speed would get kneecapped. im sure changing these things to maintain your momentum would have messed with a lot of the games built in precision (if you kept momentum thered be times where a speed ring would throw you into spikes instead of right onto a platform or something) so i think its okay the way that it is for what they were going for with the game, i just personally felt like getting brake checked all the time didnt feel great. the only other minor thing i have to say is it would be nice if you could turn off the slow motion every time you hit a checkpoint. when im locked into a level trying to get a PB its a bit annoying for the entire game to slow to a snails pace just because i progressed. overall though a very fun game. if they ever made an epilogue chapter or a "farewell" dlc type of thing i would totally play it! i could tell there was a lot of love put into this game and i hope to see more passion like this! a solid 8/10 game for sure

The speed of this game is a joy, especially once you get a good feel for things. The story hook at the start also does a good job at getting the stakes set, and giving a character-driven reason why the speed is needed.

(50th Review!) This is my 50th review on Steam!!!!!!!!!! I finished playing Aureole - Wings Of Hope! This was an amazing, fast paced and fun 2D Platformer video game tribute to Sonic 3 & Knuckles!!!!! Aureole - Wings Of Hope had amazing, fast paced and crazy intense speed with making fun use of the ring's speed and phyiscs! The final boss against the demon king himself was so freaking hard and fun!!!!! The ending was great seeing both Remila and Ryleth passing away and ascending was sad and happy! Overall, Aureole - Wings Of Hope deserves more popularity and love! That's my review on Aureole Wings Of Hope! Farewell Aureole - Wings Of Hope!!!!!!!!!!
