Hoping I will actually get to test online eventually, but local is fun.

Bought for dreamcast cross-play but it's more fun than rocket league 💆

I wanna give this a neutral review because while I love what this is going for I feel like this really wasn't worth $10. In the 30 minutes I've played I feel like I've seen everything there is to see.
Obviously the Dreamcast cross-play is a big selling point, and while I don't have a Dreamcast it wouldn't matter anyway because this doesn't come with the Dreamcast version. At all. Nor is there any way as far as I know to (legally) download the Dreamcast version and burn it yourself. The only way to get the Dreamcast version is separately purchasing a pre-burned disc from the devs' site. Not a fan.
Further on, the game itself is just super plain. It's inspired by Rocket League, obviously, but that's about it. You play for a few minutes, one team wins, that's the whole entire game. Three or four maps I think, all of which are the same layout, and a few car teams (none of which change anything).
There's also a "league" mode where you...do the same thing as normal, but without the setup, just right into singleplayer. Same gameplay. Doesn't even have bot difficulty to at least emulate actual variety.
There's also online where you can't do anything because the servers are dead. Wanna host yourself? Even though you linked an account, I hope you like port forwarding! Apparently this is required to make the game "more like a game from the 90's" or something, I just think the devs didn't wanna bother with servers. Not that you're missing out on much since it's once again the exact same gameplay, just this time with people.
I can only see this game being fun for couch multiplayer, even then for only a few minutes before it gets monotonous, and even then not worth its price. Keep in mind by the way that this game will likely never get content updates as, remember, Dreamcast games cannot be updated. Ain't that something we take for granted now.
Buy this game if you have friends to play with or are a Dreamcast game collector, and if you're okay with the game being pricey for what it has to offer. The game's obviously a technical marvel. But if you, like me, wanted to play it for the gameplay, this is not gonna cut it.

definitely plays and feels like a late 90's - early 2000's game. music is definitely does sound like a early 2000's vibe.4 players locally and online. this game proves hat the dreamcast wont die out and has a huge following because of it. i would recommend it as it can be fun to play :)

It is the only game on Steam to my knowledge that supports cross-play between a Dreamcast and PC so... what more do you want? Would be nice if it also ran on the Playstation 2 which is technically far superior compared to the Dreamcast but ah well.
But seriously. I've had no real issues with the game other then the ai scoring a few own goals which I cant fault much because I have also scored a fair few myself.
