🤣🤣🤣 So funny. Totally bonkers. This game feels like an interactive episode of the Simpsons from an alternate reality where Matt Groening is from Yorkshire. The voice acting of Matt Berry alone is worth the price. It IS a bit steep for such a short game (ca. 3 hours, not 100%ing it), but these days I'd probably spend the same amount watching a much less funny comedy in the cinema. If you like British homoUr, nab this gem next time it's on sale.

Probably the funniest game I've played in a good long while - and I don't even really like British humor! There is just a universal silliness on display here and it's a joy to witness. Reminded me a lot of Adventure Time / Regular Show era Cartoon Network as well.

Im torn on this game. im reccomending it because i adore the animation and its clear how much love was put into the thing. But i really didnt connect with the humor or characters. the jokes sometimes felt really repetitive as well. but id say if you are interested in the game and its on sale, give it a go.

I found that Thank Goodness You're Here shone through its amazing humour/comedy, cute art style, stunning voice acting and great animation.
I found it a little boring at the start as I thought you just "slapped" items to break them and thought that was going to be most of the game, but once I had begun having to figure out how to assist townsfolk, the game became a lot more fun.
I genuinely grew to love all the immensely British characters, even in such a short video game, and basically ended up adoring everything about this masterpiece in summary.
I will quickly mention though, I did get this during the Steam Summer Sale where it was made quite cheap (about $10 less than the original price) so my opinion isn't very affected by the pricing.

With 100% completion, I leave a review: is a very good game. Love the music, artstyle and the dubbing. However, as a non-british person I feel like I didn't get all the jokes, even though I had a good laugh. Feels too expensive though, so I wanted to 100% it, which was a terrible experience due to the lack of saving feature and missing a bunch of actions I needed to perform to be awared some achievements, leading to having to restart the game. First playthrough was 3h long. I understand the effort behind the game, it being made by only two people, but still on discount felt expensive.

I reckon anything that makes me laugh more than a few times or at least smile like an idiot every now and then means it's worth it, even if it is a bit absurdly short. Less of a game and more of a (ministry of silly) walking simulator, worth a look if you want to add some amusing brevity to that steam library of yours.

Imagine if Monty Python, Adventure Time, Rick & Morty and South Park had a really, really wild orgy in a pool full of butter...
...ok, maybe don't imagine that, but anyway, this is the child from that night.
While a lot of love clearly went into the making of ‘Thank Goodness You’re Here!’, its absurdist British humour won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. As the gameplay takes on a backseat role to allow for a constant stream of jokes, it’s best to check if you’re part of the target audience when considering a purchase.
It takes only a few minutes of playing Thank Goodness You’re Here!, developed by the two-person (!) studio Coal Supper, to realise just how much love went into creating this satirist take on British town-life: The charming caricatures that are representing common townspeople, the absurd events highlighting the ridiculousness of everyday life and, of course, accents that requires subtitles if you’re not familiar with this part of the world. This is the type of humour that can only be made by people all too familiar with the matter they’re depicting.
Throughout the 2-3h long adventure, the protagonist – a salesman asked to meet the mayor of the fictional English town of Barnsworth - ends up helping the eccentric local villagers with their various problems, which range from not being able to make fish & chips to getting their hand stuck in the gully when trying to grab a pence piece. In terms of gameplay, this translates to some light puzzle solving, as the all the protagonist can do is move around, jump and slap things/people.
Unsurprisingly for this type of game then, the humour takes front and centre. While the gameplay aspects aren’t completely gone and there are even achievements for going out of your way to perform certain actions, your enjoyment of the game depends almost entirely on how much you enjoy the increasingly absurd jokes that make up the quite linear story: The game’s puzzles, if stripped of their unique presentation, are simply too shallow to entertain on their own.
As such, Thank Goodness You’re Here! is the type of game where I heavily recommend watching about 10-15 minutes of gameplay before making a decision on purchasing the game. As humour is extremely subjective, reviews can’t translate well whether you’ll like the game or not if it’s mostly a constant stream of interactive jokes. In my case, I bought the game based on one particular scene involving a pair of lowers – only to find out that the rest of the game was made up of more absurdist humour, which didn’t match my personal taste. Subsequently, while I still finished Thank Goodness You’re Here! due to its short length, I didn’t really enjoy my time with the game.
However, I realise that this is simply a matter of personal preference in terms of humour, which is why I’m still recommending this game after all: Even if you really should make sure that you’re part of the target audience before playing, which I unfortunately didn’t, the labour of love that went into creating Thank Goodness You’re Here! should be acknowledged.
