$20 down the shitter
Update: I reached out to CCP support about this matter and they helped apply the game time from this purchase to my other account which is not linked to Steam.
Shoutout CCP for being helpful and not accusing me of abusing the return policy, like Steam did.

don't buy unless your actual eve account is a steam created account end of story.

This is basically a scam by Steam. I had my refund request denied even though I only had 48 minutes of game time, so the 2 hour thing is bs. The majority of people who play this game have been playing for years and will not realize that this sub can't be applied to their preexisting account but only to an arbitrarily created Steam account that is created when you download the client via Steam. Anyone who has played before will download the client and buy the game time for their preexisting account at the same time not realizing that this new account has even been created. The really stupid thing about this is that you can still log in to your preexisting account. This problem has existed for years and Steam is clearly more than happy to take your money because they have done nothing to flag this for people OR probably even more obviously made it possible to simply transfer the upgrade time to your preexisting account.

Same issue as everyone else. I purchased the subscription and it went to the steam account instead of my intended account. Do not purchase this product if you have an old account. They will not issue a refund and give you a bullshit, generic response. Mine was "we cant issue a refund, you played for more than 2 hours" Too bad steam hasn't checked further into the issue and tried to remedy the situation.
Update, I contacted steam again to further clarify the situation and was again met with the generic response we cant issue you a refund, you played more than 2 hours. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS IF YOU INTEND TO USE IT ON AN OLD ACCOUNT! Go to eves website directly instead.

despite being priced differently for different discrete periods of time, do not be misled: they will rebill you when it ends, and will deny all refunds on grounds of "promotional pricing", which is another lie.
in the event you bought this: to prevent recurrence you can cancel immediately after purchase until before expiration by going to steam account details to cancel subscription.

DO NOT BUY THIS.
I just made the mistake everyone else is talking about. I didn't even think to look since subscriptions are so common in today's age, but this one will automatically pick an account and apply to it without asking you for permission or which account you would like to apply it to.

I purchased Eve Online years ago through their website, had my account created through them / had previously purchased game time through Eve's service. Not too long ago I purchased eve again through steam, I like to keep my games centralized through one app when I can. Just recently I went to purchase game time. I saw they had that available too through the steam store; Awesome, I thought. I was wrong. Not awesome. when I purchased the game time steams dumb service created a separate account and applied the time to it instead of the one I created years ago. Didn't even give me the choice. Steam refuses to issue a refund even after explaining all of the above. Denied 3 times.
Anyway, Don't buy this. In fact don't buy eve through steam at all. Go to their website and make all your purchases through Eve's service. you'll be much happier.
Thanks steam for stealing 14.99 from me.....

I had $15 stolen from me basically from this silly system. It will automatically create an account for you and apply it to that account and not any preexisting accounts. An account I never even applied for, opened, or launched. When I filed for a refund they said it had play time and could not be refunded. Bull****.
"Eve Online - Steam Starter Pack Sub - Playtime: 100 minutes
EVE Online: 1 month subscription"
You can see at the top of the review that I have 0 playtime. Thats because I never even opened their auto-generated account.
The fact that the review section is full of pissed off people should be enough of a reason to just skip using steam for eve to avoid miss handling of your accounts and money.
Hope the $15 was worth pissing off so many people.

The breakdown: If you create an EVE account through EVE, you cannot use this subscription. Which is odd, because that's what I had done. So even if you do create the account through Steam, you are rolling the dice on this. There is a reason why this isn't the only non-recommendation for the omega subscription products. Why doesn't Steam make the EVE account/EVE account through stream-issue more prominent in their description, I'll leave that for you, dear reader, to determine.
Anyway, they have the usual 48-hr/2-hr played refund policy, so just as you are trying to get your wits about you with this game and then realize that your Omega subscription isn't synced with your account, they'll refuse your refund.
Unsurprisingly, Steam has done an extremely poor job of providing customer service on this subject, following in the footsteps of disreputable corporations such as Comcast and Wells Fargo. I look forward to the day when I can play my library of games on a better platform than this.
