Yeon-Oh and Seo: So Close to Greatness! After 12 hours with Yeon-Oh and Seo, I'm walking away with some mixed feelings. It's a good game, no doubt about it, but it's not quite great yet. And that "yet" is important, because it's so close. It just needs a few tweaks. First off, let's talk about the visuals. Seriously, this game is gorgeous. The video quality is top-notch. There were truly moments where I genuinely felt like I was watching a K-drama. You can tell they put a lot of effort into the presentation, and it really pays off. There are so many shots that just make you want to be a fly on the wall, observing Yeon-Oh and Seo's world. I also appreciated the familiar K-drama tropes. There were a few laugh-out-loud moments that any K-drama fan will recognize and enjoy. The game is definitely a long one, which I actually liked. You get plenty of time to explore Yeon-Oh and Seo's story, their relationship, the challenges they face, and the consequences of your choices. There are some unexpected twists and turns, too, which kept me engaged. However, this length also brings its own set of challenges, as I'll explain. The acting is… well, it's solid. Yeon-Oh's actor is particularly convincing throughout the entire story. Seo's actress is good too, but I felt she really got a chance to shine in the second half when her character takes more focus. The supporting characters are decent, but honestly, only a few are really memorable after the credits roll. I really liked the story branch tree. It made it easy to go back and see all the different outcomes from my decisions. A very smart and needed addition. Now, let's talk about the things that disappointed me. And I want to be clear, I'm not saying they're bad, but if they were addressed, this game could be amazing. Remember how I said the game was long? Yeah, well, that's a good thing, but… While I loved the detailed story and all the different branches, a lot of the endings felt repetitive. After working so hard to get 100%, many of the endings were practically the same. A bit of a letdown, to be honest. There were also a few times when the English subtitles were missing, dropped out, or just plain wrong. It wasn't a frequent issue—maybe less than 2% of the game. However, that 2% can matter to those that need subtitles to understand a moment of dialogue that seems important. So not a big issue but noticeable. Another thing: no achievements! Achievements are fun! They add to the replayability. Hopefully, this is something that can be added in an update. And finally, the endings themselves. They often felt rushed and underdeveloped. The game does such a great job of drawing you into the characters' world and building up the tension, and just when your emotions are high and your like" Ok, this is going to be good" then… bam! Credits. Just when things are getting really good. Disappointing not bad. The game's price point has been a point of contention among players. While I understand the developers' decision, given the production values and narrative scope, a temporary price reduction or a sale during key Steam sales events could significantly broaden its audience and recoup development costs more quickly. One suggestion I have, besides fixing the issues I mentioned, is to add some behind-the-scenes content. Bloopers, deleted scenes, the making-of stuff. That would be awesome! It would really complete the K-drama feel, you know. I would totally get it!! Despite its shortcomings, Yeon-Oh and Seo offers a compelling K-drama experience. The strong performances, engaging narrative, and production values are good. However, the repetitive endings, occasional subtitle issues, lack of achievements, and underdeveloped conclusions hold it back from greatness. Final Score: 7/10 With the implementation of the suggested improvements, Yeon-Oh and Seo could easily become an 8 or even a 9. It has the potential to be a standout FMV title, and I sincerely hope the developers continue to refine and polish this promising game.
