I think the name Tim is the funniest name ever. The wife does not. I bought this game just to annoy her with Tim. 10/10
THIS DOME'S A KEEPER
Eh? Eh? See what I did there? BloodDome99 = The Running Man + Tandy Home Computer + Vampire Surviors Yes, yes, the survivors/bullet-heaven genre is heavily over-saturated with scores of mediocre takes littering the store... However this genre is one of my absolute favorite guilty pleasures. For my part, these games hearken back to arcade classics like Robotron in much the same way that many twin-stick shooters do and it's a vibe I still enjoy. Does Blood Dome 99 innovate on this formula? Eh... Not terribly. However, it doesn't need to. It's a game that plays to it's strengths and DGAF about it's weaknesses. It's strengths lie in just how quick and easy it is to get straight into the action, the simple but highly stylish graphics, the (mostly) satisfying feel and capturing that 80s retrofuture dystopia theme perfectly. Honestly, what sets it apart from me is that the runs are FAST. In Vampire Survivors, Halls of Torment, and other similar giants of the genre, once you get rolling you can spend 30 minutes - 1 hour on some levels and they just begin to drag. Sometimes, a lot times, all I want is a game that is extremely sessionable. 15 - 30 minutes tops, nobody is overstaying their welcome and making things awkward like your weird uncle at Thanksgiving. This is where Blood Dome delivers. Take one to the dome if you...

🩸Want a game that does what it sets out to do and does it hard and fast (oh my)
🩸Get warm nostalgia for classic 80s quasi-futuristic dystopias that certainly won't now fill you with existential dread... Ha... Ha...
🩸Are a bullet-heaven junky that just needs a fix, just a few rounds man, you're good for it, man, PLEASE, PLEASE, man!
Get running, man, if you...

🏃Are burnt out on survivor-likes, I mean, you probably aren't even on this page if that's the case though.
🏃Are averse to retro-themes and goofy, over-the-top presentation and humor
🏃Tend to calculate whether a game is "worth it" based solely on the sheer number of hours per dollar ratio

The Bottom Line
Is the Blood Dome the Best Dome? No, but it is far from the Worst Dome. That dubious honor belongs to 1996's Bio-Dome starring Pauly Shore and Stephen Baldwin.
JAM DA NETWURK?!
5/10 would be a 'meh' review if they existed. The game has very cool style and atmosphere, but for the price it is exceptionally shallow with a lack of variety and almost no progression. Has far too much grind as well, for example after beating the 1st arena, you then have to grind to actually pay for the item to access the 2nd arena that is now unlocked. Over here, we call that a 'dild0 move'
