Slime 3K: Rise Against Despot takes the horde-survivor formula and flips it on its gooey head. Instead of faceless heroes, you’re a slime — mutating, absorbing, and evolving as you take on endless waves of bizarre enemies from Despot’s Army. The fun is in the evolution: stack weird mutations, pick quirky upgrades, and slowly turn your slime into an unstoppable (and hilarious) killing machine. The runs are fast, chaotic, and packed with that “just one more try” energy. It’s silly, stylish, and surprisingly strategic. Pros: ✔ Unique slime-evolution mechanic ✔ Tons of upgrades and goofy combos ✔ Fun art style with Despot’s trademark humor ✔ Short, addictive runs Cons: ✘ Chaos on screen can be hard to track ✘ RNG can make some builds less fun If you loved Despot’s Game and want more fast-paced, goofy chaos, Slime 3K is absolutely worth sinking into. The game is okay, but after about 2 hours (conveniently the cutoff for refunds), there is an insane difficulty spike around level 6 The first ~5 levels are pretty chill/easy and you can experiment with different builds. After that though, there are levels which are borderline impossible unless you choose a specific character and a hyper specific cheese build. I tried 5-10 attempts with various builds and it wasn’t close to being beatable. I had to Google this and apparently a lot of people had similar issues and someone posted the specific cheese build you have follow to beat this level. Then, the following level has a similar issue where it is basically impossible with many of the builds and also can only be beaten with a very specific character and build. I’m not sure how the devs came to this conclusion because they had months (years?) of Early Access play testing before version 1.0, but I think they need to go back to the drawing board and work on a rebalancing patch for version 1.1. If the entire game (40+ levels) is going to be like this, then I have no interest in continuing. If the entire game were like the first few levels where you could experiment and realistically use different builds, then I would probably recommend this game. However, in its current state, I would not recommend this game until they smooth out the difficult curve.

Surprisingly fun level progression, where you don't just do a level against the same enemy waves for 20 minutes, and incredible art too. Definitely would be a slime and eat humans again.
