I tried the first game, hoping that it was some type of RPG maker survival horror game and was severely disappointed. I was hoping this game would correct the errors of the first game and well... it did not.
So on top of the cons of the first game that I posted in review:
-too simple
-repetitive audio tracks
-repetitive game play
-repetitive puzzles
-some of that world building was unnecessary
We can add:
-awful story
This game has repetitive game play in terms of the clown chasing you. Almost every time you meet the killer clown, you commence a chase sequence, and not a fun one. Plus you have to solve more mundane puzzles like "find the key to the lock." But in this game, you play as 2 protagonists so not only will you perform these mundane tasks, you do it twice.
I believe the worst offender is the story. Slight spoilers: In this game, it picks up right from the last game. You survive the clown's attacks and escape. In your escape you find another person. Instead of calling the police about a killer clown, going to the hospital for your injuries, or just letting it go, for some reason the protagonist from the first game goes back to find the clown, while also suckering someone else to help find him. And without bringing any weapons. The game explains he just forgot because he was just too angry or something, but that's an awful excuse and doesn't explain why the main character didn't just call the police instead. So he goes back to the woods and in comes the kitchen sink of plots. The developer not only ignored more character development for the main character, but goes more in-depth with the new second protagonist and even some side characters. That's great and all but I feel the developer only did that to pad out the time and because he ran out of things to talk about with the main protagonist from the first game. Then there's the aspect of the developer throwing nonsensical things here. There was a ghost in the first game and there are some here too, except only certain ghosts to fill plot-holes, while omitting other ghost that would create plot holes. There is also a zombie, a Silent Hill-esque world, and another serial killer that doesn't make sense. All these things don't make sense and they don't add or create congruence to the overall plot.
This was a pain to finish and I do not believe I will play the next game because I can most certainly guess what it will be about: another main character will be added because they don't know how to add more, engaging background to the existing characters, more chase sequences, another monster will be added to create more "spooky" factor, more "find the key" puzzles, and more padded out lore.
It pains me to say that I do not recommend this game because it had so much potential. But it angers me much more because it wasted my time.
