Edited Review: I have refunded this game and Magic Research 2. I had 2.9 hours in this game, and I had not yet launched Magic Research 2.
This is the worst steam deck experience I’ve ever had. I bought both this and the sequel on sale, and well, I’ve learned my lesson. This dev is ignored by me. I will never purchase another item from them again.
Firstly, I’ve never seen any game crash the SD as much as this game. And I mean a hard crash.
Edit: This is the only game that has given me the dreaded Steam Deck black screen problem. Yes, a full reboot (holding power button for 10 seconds or so to force shut down) works most of the time. If a full reboot did not work, a second full reboot would fix the issue and allow the steam deck to boot normally. I have played and am still playing many, many other games on the same Steam OS version, and this is the only game in my 2+ years of owning a deck that has given me a “force shutdown black screen” issue. And it did so EVERY SINGLE TIME I played the game (I played it three times total).
Secondly, the dev is an AH. He auto-saves every five seconds, and there is no way to shut down the program other than “ending” it (end task, x button on window, or exit program on steam os for example). Well, I guess if you shut it down at the exact wrong time, you might just lose your save. It happens to many people, check the discussions.
Edit: I never lost my save, but the black screen crashes forced me to stop playing. I was worried about the safety of the steam deck.
So, people ask for a save button, an exit button, and disable the auto saves (or at least make it an option). This AH does none of that, and instead doubles down and copies this to the second game. I don’t even want to play this thing anymore. I’m worried it is going to harm my steam deck.

Not a horrible game, although i highly recommend buying Magic Research 2 over this game. I got this in a bundle and played it for a while, but it's pretty apparent it has short comings. Lots of repetition and over-maintenance of certain small time things. the second game fixes these things and makes the overall gameplay flow better.
