Surprisingly Great – Don’t Let the Negative Reviews Stop You
Backrooms Society is a hidden gem with a really interesting take on the Backrooms concept. If you're into atmospheric horror and exploration, this is definitely worth checking out.
Yes, the map feels like a maze and yes, you will get lost — but that’s honestly part of the fun. The procedural generation keeps each run feeling fresh, and that sense of disorientation adds to the tension in a good way.
The evidence collection mechanic is a cool feature that adds depth beyond just "survive and escape." You're actually gathering research on entities, which gives your runs a real sense of purpose. It’s not just a walking simulator — there’s strategy involved.
The metro part of the game feels like a mix between Phasmo and SCP — scanning for radiation, identifying different threats, and trying to figure out what you’re dealing with before it’s too late. The different types of enemies and environmental hazards keep things interesting.
Also, it’s currently on sale for $4.89 at the time of this review — and for that price, it’s absolutely worth it. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you off. This game has a lot going for it.

The jump scares are perfectly planned, to the point of annoyance (at times). I love this game, though. Just be sure to have a team of thinkers (if you're going to play co-op) because there are times where you will need to act quickly, and the LAST thing you want to deal with is someone who needs you to hold their hand.
