Refunded the game because most of the single player content is behind online connection so if they turn off the servers it will become unplayable just like "The Crew".

Riders Republic is a great game, and I can recommend it while it's on sale. It's made by the same developer as Steep, but now includes many different sports. I like arcade sports games where it's just fun to cruise around and do some tricks. It includes snowboarding/skiing, biking, rocket wingsuits, normal wingsuits, and some 'toys' like snowmobiles, rocket bikes, or rocket skis. The complete edition, which I recommend getting while it's on sale, also includes BMX with missions, skateboarding with missions, a fun hoverboard, and some other toys. Although it says "complete edition," it doesn't feature Seasons 3 and 4, which is a bummer. Season 3 has longboarding and mountainboarding, both with missions, and Season 4 just includes three toys. I wish longboarding and mountainboarding with their missions were at least included in the complete edition. But you still get a decent amount of content. The open world is also full of fun challenges, like dangerous missions, toys to collect, or sightseeing spots to explore. I did win the complete edition on PS5, but then bought the normal edition of this game on Steam for €4. And what's awesome is that it's both cross-progression, including your expansions. So I still have access to the complete edition, while just owning the base edition here. It also allows crossplay, so you can play with friends that own the game on a different platform. What I simply don't like is the in-game store and the pricing of the extra content. It's just crappy in-game monetization, where most stuff is overpriced. And the other seasons are also too expensive, costing around €20 per season (for example, Season 3 is longboarding and mountainboarding with missions). It'd be more fair if the prices for those were halved. Anyway, it's still a lot of fun. I've played it for a decent amount on other platforms, and I can definitely recommend it while it's on sale. The standard edition then costs €4, and the complete edition €15. The complete edition has much more content, so I recommend getting that one. But again, only when it's on sale.

Wanted to try the funny little cars and planes but they're paid dlc. So no, Ubisoft. I'll take my 4$ back, shame I can't take my 26 minutes back.

This game is pretty debatable. I'd only recommend picking it up if it's on a big sale. It just doesn't feel like it deserves full price since there's nothing super gripping about it, and who knows how soon Ubisoft will shut down the servers. Plus, it wouldn't be Ubisoft if they didn't call an edition "Complete Edition" when it doesn't even include all the content. The good stuff about the game is that it can definitely be fun. There are a bunch of activities, and the soundtrack is surprisingly good. Fast travel between races is super convenient, which helps to zip through career mode. Riders Republic is beginner-friendly, and coming in first isn't even necessary. But some tracks can really surprise, or even annoy. That's because it's tough to nail all the requirements for a perfect run (though, again, it's totally not required!). The handling physics are arcade-style. That means the character and vehicle don't have a lot of inertia, allowing for tricks that are impossible in real life. It's fun when an extreme sports game forgives mistakes, but sometimes it feels like it needs a little more hardcore action. For example, skateboarding here is way too arcadey; smoother transitions between tricks, like in the Tony Hawk series, would be a welcome addition. Skiing is okay, but it's simplified compared to its predecessor, Steep, which had more realistic and hardcore physics. Bike handling is decent. Pedaling and doing tricks are both fun, and that's something that really clicked with me. Among the debatable aspects, there's the weird map where roads bend unnaturally, and the different areas just don't make sense geographically. However, this kind of layout does allow for crazy tracks, so that decision is understandable. A surprising miss for a game where cool tricks and showing them off are part of the fun is the lack of an instant replay after finishing a race, and no way to record or rewatch a past race. Probably the biggest downside of the game is its poor adaptation for keyboard controls. It was impossible to enjoy with such clunky controls, so a switch to a gamepad was necessary. The game feels totally different then, allowing for precise movement control, but at the same time, it demands pretty exact control with the left stick and triggers. After about an hour and a half of playing, hands were super tired, but there wasn't any discomfort. This review is based on only 90 minutes of gameplay. Perhaps opinions will change later, but for now, getting the game on sale has been satisfying - it turned out better than expected.

There's no progression at all in freeroam. You have to grind events. I just wanted to chill, ride around the open world, do some tricks and level up.

It forces a Ubisoft Connect account and client. But whats insane is that THEY ASK FOR ACTIVATION! Even though you bought it, their buggy service refuses to give you access. Steer clear from any Ubisoft product. I was baited by the price. But alas, we should be comfortable not owning games apparently...

I'm not really into sports games, but this really fit my style of free-roam exploration games. The monetization is unfortunate but underneath it is a really fun game worth hours of fun. The world feels well crafted and alive with animals, players and hundreds of POI to explore. I recommend to get it on sale with the skate addon as that pretty much covers about 90% of the story/career content, but the base game already covers a lot equipment to play around with (racing bikes, dirt bikes, snowboards, paramotor, rocket suit, wing suit). Tip: Use the "Manual" landing mode. It's more challenging but feels great when you learn to land the tricks.

Why the fuck isn't the complete edition complete? What the fuck kind of scheme is this? The game is fun but Ubisoft is full of scheming, corporate pieces of garbage that only want to rip you off even harder when they've made an actually good game. Deceptive "rewards", blatant lies about what content comes with the game, blatant overpricing... What else can I say that someone hasn't said before? It's only worth it because it's on sale. That's it. Otherwise, I await the free content coming from the impending lawsuit for what constitutes as "complete edition". Suck it Ubisoft. Your developers work hard and then you make their content trash from greed. If you just made quality content and didn't slice the entire game into pieces to be sold back at full price per slice, you would make the kind of money you want to make in the first place.
