I'll recommend it to others to try, but in its current state I am feeling a lack of dopamine while playing. I feel like the early game is a lot waiting for your kingdom to level up so that you can make it further and further. But that journey isn't satisfying enough as is. There are updates on the way ideally, so will revisit down the road.

Keeps getting further away from what I liked in the demo. Game updates / patches are changing core mechanics that deeply impact the game feel. If you want it, wait for a more stable release.

This game clearly is a labor of love. The undead/human kingdoms cross-kingdom system keeps things interesting, and there is always a lot to do. There are a huge # of creatures and artifacts to unlock, work with and combine in various useful ways. There is a grind, but it's a genre convention, and I've found the gameplay solid overall. Recommended.

The easiest way to put it is... The game asks for too much and offers very little in return. At the moment it's just a mess, progression is rather slow and too repetitive, bonuses are just scattered around the map and need you to remember to click them each game, you need keep track of just doing everything while the game doesn't really help with it. It would be super nice to have some menus to make your life easier once you unlock stuff and then just concentrate on the part that matter - like city building and fighting.

Very cool game that is held back by some poor design choices. Understanding the material economy with workers and carriers etc. is far from intuitive. The bar scene is way too big and long.

the demo was so much fun, now it feels like the idea got lost and everything feels like an unnecessary and unrewarding grind of replays, as well as major mechanics getting changed all the time with patches unfortunately not worth your time anymore

Can't recommend this game because it is not worth 20 dollars, it is only worth 10 dollars. It's a rogue-like city builder. And you start off building the same city every time. The gameplay loop is repetitive and tedious. Don't like that there are only 3 bosses on any given playthrough *Overall the game is decent for a solo dev, first 20 hours are interesting

If you want a comfy game or a deckbuilder, this isn't really it, but the game is pretty fun and even if you bounce off the grindiness you can still get quite a few hours, as my hours can attest. However, if you want to 'finish' the game, be prepared for an extremely long and grindy experience. For what it is, it's a fine purchase at its price point - the only main gripes I would have with it are some UI user-unfriendliness at places, my personal dislike of the (in this game necessary for permanent bonuses) achievement hunting which requires throwaway runs, a bit too much RNG and how much it commits to the painstaking grind once you're in the 'mid-game'. This is especially an issue given how painful the process of unlocking items, completing quests (for a whole 1% bonus!) 'observing' units and saving for the increasingly expensive world unlocks is. Still, I had a lot of fun, will probably play some more when I stop being frustrated at the new game + difficulty curve. Edit: OK 50 hours later having got to the end and looked it up fully now, I wasn't even aware JUST how bad the grind for 'finishing' this game is. I was motivated by the 'finish the game' achievement, but grinding out another 10-12 hours of runs at the second-to-last difficulty JUST to get the opportunity to grind out ANOTHER like 20 hours of runs at the max difficulty for BOTH factions is just insane. I get putting in optional difficult content in your indie game but this is WAY too far. My advice is to play the game until you get even slightly bored and ignore the story and final achievements, it is NOT worth it.

"Recommend" is a strong word for this. It sits on the line between recommended and not recommended. There is nothing inherently wrong with the game. You can see the care that was put into it. But it has a major design flaw that makes it more tedious than it should be and you'd need an overhaul to fix that. It's a roguelite game where you are meant to fail the first few times and restart with additional resources. But the additional ressources are mostly +1 to something. That +1 helps for sure, but it is uninteresting. You have to rebuild the kingdom pretty much the same as the previous time, because there's not much interesting choices to be made in how you build it. So it becomes increasingly tedious with no excitement of trying something new. Yes there are different unit to defend you kingdom but it's basically learning which unit is good or not. That's it, no real excitement in resetting, because there's no different choices to be made, and the unlocks are not that exciting. Also, the interface is okay, but if you play a run like once or twice each week, it is easy to forget an upgrade because you have to look for the buildings or object that buffs. There are arrows for things that are there for the current day, but other options can easily be forgotten because you just don't remember and it's not displayed to you. That seems to be the nature of the game though but it plays against people who don't have the chance to play very often. I could easily have selected "not recommended" but I didn't notice any bugs and you can see that love went into this. Also it is in Early Access. I got this at 50% off, and I personally think that paying full price would have put a bitter taste in my mouth.
