Playtime: 547 minutes
This game overstays its welcome, with some stages being quite hard and the performance being horrible, even after a series of updates. Add in crashes, save points that are too far apart and too many stages where you just have to kill a certain number of enemies before you can continue, and the game becomes tedious and mind-numbingly boring. The voice acting by these women is cringe-worthy, and I would rather kill myself than listen to more of these dialogues. Other issues include the fact that, although the stages are not big, they are still too big. I think the game might have benefited from being A LOT smaller and more focused. You have 41 stages and each takes around 15-30 minutes to finish and the majority of objectives is to kill enemies and viruses. The sound effects also seem like an afterthought. Combat is tricky, too, as there is a lot of clutter. I often get caught on projections and get stuck in debris while dodging enemies. Is the game bad, though? No — it's visually appealing and has a quirky sense of humour sometimes. It tries hard to emulate Descent, and it does capture some of what made Descent great. Am I upset that I paid money for it? No, definitely not, but I do wish it was a LOT more polished, especially level-design and story-wise because that is beyond trash.
Final Verdict: 3/10 - The combination of substandard, cringe-inducing dialogue and a game that is overly long and outstays its welcome makes for an unsatisfying experience
