Sadly not a fan of small arenas with a timer especially a short one like 20 sec. yeah, I failed to notice the timer from the store page...

A fast-paced action game where strategy is your best weapon. This game flows by repeating 2 beats: First you enter an arena and start hacking and shooting your way through enemies, feeling the pressure of time and health, constantly running, constantly slashing. Then you die and you decompress, trying to put reason into your run, trying to optimize places and waves on how to approach them better next time. I think this game is a great little sneak peek into what speedrunning is, and to anyone who feels intrigued by the hobby but doesn't have time for it, Lawbringer could be the perfect bite, with just enough in it to keep you absorbed, but not too much to leave you overwhelmed.

This game is intense. If you like to be challenged from the start and race against the clock, this is for you. I like it, and I am annoyed by it. :) (Not really in a bad way.) I like the mechanics, I think the fight is good. The characters are also interesting and exciting. The traps could be more obvious, but you probably get used to them as you play multiple times. I would like to see more of the game story and lore. Since I die quickly and many times, I got to see some. xD Visibility gets bad as you progress through the game as the bodies of your enemies remain in the arena. It's a good visual sign of how far you got, but it can get in the way. For me, this game gets stressful and I get confused with the controls while in the hurry to kill and run away. I believe the timer should be introduced later in the game after the user gets a bit more familiar with the mechanics. But that comes from someone who doesn't play games often. That being said, this game is simple enough to pick up for anyone who is not a hardcore gamer, but it is also pretty difficult and can be demotivating at times. Or it can annoy you so much you feel the need to conquer it - I guess it depends on the player's character. All in all, worth to try and is fun. I am excited to see how this game is going to change with new releases. Also, the music is epic. :)

Slow arena shooter that just doesn't hit the way the developer intended. The enemies and their attacks are not well explained leading to getting hit without seeing it coming. The gameplay is very slow and the arena is to small imo. Like i said i see the vision just not fun for me personally. Also side not i know it says its unknown if it works on steam deck or not but i can confirm it does without issue

It's not an easy game, but also it's not a game that you easily quit! To start off, the music is amazing - it reminds me in the very best way of Hades when Zagreus fights Hades in the second phase. The art and the animations are pretty good, but there are a few areas that need some love, especially in the visibility aspect. The controls are easy to learn and the game itself is addicting, especially if you're a fan of these "just one more run" games :) The gameplay is solid, it allows for some variance, there are definitely a couple of combos that really work for every playstyle, but since the perk system is not yet that developed there's a lot of room for growth. I personally tend to grab the boring, stat-boosting perks a lot so that I can run into a huge group of enemies and hack-away. As you get better at it and start anticipating the moves and actions of enemies, it gets much easier to execute your ideas and plays. For the first version, I'd say this is great - but I am expecting to see a bit more variety to the gun-play, as well as more perks and more innovative ways to screw enemies. (Also, screw traps, I really hate them. But they can be useful to get enemies pretty low)

A frenetic, hack-and-shoot arcade game that takes Akane-style action, adds a roguelike-inspired build system, and cranks the whole experience up to 11. Lawbringer is FAST, and it's HARD. While you don't die in one hit, and healing is relatively accessible from healing drops and certain passive upgrades, you'll nonetheless be dying a lot during your struggles in the arena. On top of this, a timer system, refreshed by enemy kills, demands incessant aggression on the player's part -- but that's exactly the point. Lawbringer is at its best when you're slashing through enemies, frantically dodging and firing off whatever gun you can get your hands on. The game does have its limitations (the upgrade/gun pools are not huge, player animations are limited, and arena waves always feature the same static enemy composition), but, for a $4 indie game, I'm more than willing to forgive the smaller scope of the game. Since it's been a while since this game has had a new review, I will note that nearly every criticism in earlier negative reviews has been addressed by the developers by the time of my own review here. The timer "timeout death" is now toggleable, leveling up is initiated by the player, traps have better visibility, and enemy AI has been tweaked to get stuck on corners less often. In general, Lawbringer does feel like relatively polished given its size and stature -- the gameplay is smooth and feels pretty fair, even if there is an occasional rough edge here and there. All in all, Lawbringer is a nice little action game that has its own sense of personality. The lightspeed action, moody atmosphere, and low price point make it an easy recommend for action, roguelike, and arcade game fans.

Addicting round-based, time-attack Hack-n-slash with a 'survivor' genre-like perk progression. Enemies come in waves (i.e. rounds) and there's a (as of time of writing, small but good) variety of them. Also some spooky lore bits being dropped with every death, really curious to see where it leads. Enemies are actually tactical and don't just run at you, and each of them has their own combo of attacks. Mechanics: * Parry an attack by hitting it with your sword (aka clashing)! You can parry multiple incoming hits at once * Dash (no i-frames), 6-shooter revolver that you can reload (you keep reloading when you dash, use it well) * Pick up guns dropped by enemies (fanning pistol, double-barrel shotgun, 3-shot rifle that pierces enemies) * Spike, Shotgun and Turret traps that hurt both you and your enemies, and you can deflect bullets with your sword * You have a timer: if it hits 0, you die. Each enemy killed increases it. Enemies also drop xp, stamina and health orbs. * Gather xp orbs and level up to gain perks that give you abilites like stunning enemies around you when you clash (see above), * Blocking lets you ignore the next hit but also charges up to a heavy attack if you dont get damaged. Blocking is currently a bit clunky but feedback from devs sa id they're working on a better version May take half an hour or so to get the hang of all the mechanics, but I had great fun learning and even more fun trying to one-up my PB in terms of rounds. Currently at 29! Looking forward to all content updates! Definitely would love to see more enemies and round presets. I'd say worth the money as is, I imagine definitely will be with more stuff.

I bought it because I am looking for my Vampire Survivors fix and this wasn't it. I don't like a game that has strict time limits and your slow character somehow has to find a bunch of bad guys hiding rather than attacking. Boring. The enemy designs are uninspired, the sound is really good but my movement and aiming took a lot of time to get use to. It is not intuitive at all. BIG WARNING: Every stage has at least a 15-30 second time limit that adds another layer but unwelcome one. The higher you level up the more enemies that rush you, which is good but what's not good is finding a bunch of enemies stuck in corners or on invisible treadmills or in some cases just standing still like an idiot. This game is needlessly difficult because of bad game designs. If you are going to put a small time limit within each mini-level give me at least a capable AI that knows how to target me or make me fast enough to adequately get across the screen to check for any lingering bad guys. I wish I never bought this game and that I did a lot more research on the game mechanics. Shame on me.

To be NOTED this game in incredibly hard as it stands. That being said i really like the challenge of a game like this. I have not been able to stay alive for very long but it makes me think after you master the combat does the game become too easy? The time aspect of the game is definitely the hardest part, the timer will kill you more than enemies will. I suggest maybe a casual mode to master combat with a " time attack" mode or maybe new game +'s where the timer becomes more of a concern but as it stands it might be too hard for most players to stick with. The game is only 3$ tho and it look and sounds fairly good. it would be nice to have and up and down slash animation or for your melee to operate the same as the gun have a 360 degrees of slashing focus more like a twin stick shooter. Hope this helps. For the record i do like this game! just needs work for sure! Important tips Gun drops are needed for early game dodge and slash at the same time the faster you kill the faster you get more time it gets easier the longer you stay alive - more enemies = more killing = more time

It needs to be polished. For now, it's just a bunch of ideas, poorly working together. You are on timer, but enemies can stuck in some terrain elements. Some of these you can shoot through, but can't through others. Enemies attack randomly, move randomly and behave randomly. Some attacks have no charge time and you can't predict or react on them. Level up screen is the worst enemy. If you get level up in the crowd of enemies, you will take damage instantly after it closes. The only way not to take damage is to dodge. But you have no idea, do you have stamina or not. Stamina-meter placed in the very corner of the screen, you have absolutely no time to look at it. We have over-hyped over-popular Genshin, you have great Zelda, can you now draw freaking stamina-meter NEAR the character now? The game is fun for some little time, but it will frustrate you with bad design of good ideas.
