Like The Witness, if it had no puzzles and crashed every time you got too close to the edge of the map.

While it's difficult to be upset with a game that cost me 49 cents (during a sale), **Hike Trip** is much like *Hike Isle*. Starts out pleasant enough with warm and comfortable graphics and two pleasant audio tracks.

After a while though, you realize two important factors that dampen the experience. For one, this is a needle in the haystack game. You need to find all achievement locations in one run to complete the game. Unfortunately, there are zero indicators to help you find them, everything geographically looks the same, there is draw distance blur making it necessary to be near a location to see any evidence of it, and while you're wandering aimlessly, looking for said locations, the same two audio tracks play on what becomes a highly grating loop.
There needs to be either a visual or audio queue for these locations, and this is something the dev needs to work on when making these more open world style walking simulators.
It is also worth noting that the developer has used the same two tracks in each of his games I've played, making the effect of them being on a perpetual loop even more aggravating lol. He needs to add a few more stock tracks to his repertoire.

The game itself is a pleasant enough experience for a half a buck (its sale price), so I'm going to give it a positive rating, but if you reach your threshold for what you're willing to tolerate as quickly as I do, you'll want to look elsewhere.

This game is fully Steam Deck compatible btw.

MS Studios produces some of the most peaceful games on Steam and brings you now a hiking game more focused on exploration and hidden secrets. With a gorgeous cel-shading graphics, it is a joy to look at. Very short, but this only works to it's favour, and priced almost for free. A must buy if you're looking for a more peaceful time, and a game that won't having you counting your pennies after you buy it.

Game is short.
A lush, vibrant color palette that repeats ad nauseam.
I found everything quickly.
It took me wandering around for 35 minutes to got 7 of the 9 achievements.
Just lucky I guess to be looking in the right direction when the things faded into view.
EDIT
[strike]For some reason the starting and finishing game achievements didn't activate.
The broken achievements first reported almost 48 hours ago with no response from the developer.[/strike]
/EDIT
Cost $1.99 USD and would have been overpriced at half that amount.
Still not recommended.
With fixed achievements and on sale for at least 50% off, buy it if you like short, over saturated walking sims.
