Assassin’s Creed III: The Tyranny of King Washington (DLC)
Personally, I didn't enjoy this, mainly because of the alternate reality setting. It doesn't bring anything significant to the main storyline which is what really draws me to AC games in the first place. This felt a bit like those episodes in a TV series where at the end the character wakes up and it was all just a dream. If you're like me and you're in it (almost) exclusively for the story, this may not be for you (unless you're into this kind of thing, obviously). Having said that, I read some positive reviews who argue in favour of new gameplay elements and so on. I would agree with these, there are some interesting twists on an already awesome basis in terms of gameplay, but that just didn't cut it for me in terms of making me want to keep playing. Didn't encounter any bugs, myself, or problems when it came to activating the game via Uplay.

This seems to be a trend for Ubisoft games where the dlc/spin off dlc is actually better than the game (far cry 3 blood dragon/far cry primal) This DLC isn't perfect, it has some glitches and I've been lucky to encounter few to none! First episode might be a bit tedious because of the snowy frontier but otherwise I'd say episode 2 and 3 are worse if you hate long battle since the city roads are patrolled and it'll feel like the enemies just keep coming and coming. However I love the combat system in ac3 so I really didnt mind the drawn out fights. Only glitch I encountered was the convoys in episode 2 had no prisoners, I've managed to find 1 area where they spawnd so all I did was just run back and forth to get that 100% completion. The special abilities are neat and fun to use, the story is interisting and different to say the least and overall I had good times and enjoyed it more that original game, and the "different" aspect of the maps was nice, wish it wasnt so rushed tho tl;dr Some minor bugs (at least for me) Great, unique and different story Some fun/cool special abilities Too short story (even if its 3 episodes) If you dont like long fight with enemies swarming you in waves, then you should probably stay away from this

If you are considering buying this DLC because you, like me, enjoyed Assassin's Creed III, save your money. I bought all three episodes on sale for $8.80 CAD, and unfortunately it still was not worth it. I am not a regular AC subscriber -- AC3 was the first full game in the franchise I have played -- and I was quite surprised when I thoroughly enjoyed the main plot, gameplay and, flawed though they may be, the characters and scripting. This DLC, however, falls far short of the successes of AC3. The scripting is bad, the plot very clunky and ill-conceived, and the gameplay is more difficult but provides less satisfaction when completed. In summary, the tyranny is real; do not buy.

Cannot work out if Infamy is that the DLC is not available to play because need access to broken server.. or server also will be closed down anyway in few weeks... or game breaks in most cases so need full replay... or even without these problems it is very much like inferior Islamabad Kamel foreskin. Try Jalalabad Kamel foreskin. Much superior quality and never leave bad taste in mouth.

First off, do not write a negative review when you don`t know how to input a CD key... You actually have to write down the key(s) and manually input them like back in the good ol` 90`s. I actually enjoyed this DLC. The gameplay is much more challenging than the regular story which is why I enjoyed it. They made every aspect challenging from navigating the open ground through the missions and combat. There are new abilities that really change up the feel of the game for the better and the weapon choices are limited until you find more. You don`t have to waste your time crafting and you can still hunt for other reasons that we`re used to in the main story. Ammo is scarce and you cannot buy more at a store nor loot 3 bodies and be full, you actually have to loot a lot of corpses to get SOME ammo and you have to chest hunt for ammo. Combat is difficult and you actually have to use stealth in a stealth-based game and rarely can you just run into combat and own everything. The point of this story was for the developers to have a little fun and go outside the box and that`s exactly what they did, the overall theme of this story is very dark, hence the title so the people that thought it was weak, it`s a DLC, not another chapter in the AC series. So for a cheap DLC, this is actually worth the money not to mention it`s more than just 20 min of playtime, it`s many hours depending on how you play, and it is more challenging than the regular game.

This is, without exaggeration, the worst piece of single player DLC I have ever played. The campaign is sloppy and feels unfinished. Story missions are varied but aren't any fun to play. Characters are incredibly under-developed, and their impact on what little story there is is negligible. And the campaign is the best part. The open world is torturous. It takes place entirely in heavy snow which slows any on-foot progress down to a crawl. There are three side quests, and they spawn randomly rather than having set locations to visit. The only icons to go see on the map are locked chests. You know, the ones where you rotate the analog sticks for 30 seconds to feel for vibrations. Such compelling gameplay, so good thing there's about 30 of them. Enemies are EVERYWHERE. Combat is tedious, and traversal is impossible without getting into several fights along the way. You cannot travel incognito, so even when on your horse, enemies instantly spot you and then throw stones at it to make it fall down. The animal stealth power you get is decent enough, but in order to counterbalance it, enemies will spawn infinitely in certain areas to ensure that you cannot fight your way out of a situation. Do you want that chest? Too bad, there is literally no way to open it until you run a mile away or let yourself die. And actually, you don't want that chest. All it does is initiate a string of messages saying "Your arrows are full." "Your darts are full." "Your bait is full." Why? Because the game offers no situations where any of your items matter in the least bit. There's no incentive to use them. So to summarize the gameplay: you crawl through the snow, call your horse, get stuck on a rock or cliff, get off the horse, crawl through some more snow, call your horse again, get spotted by passing guards, knocked off your horse, fight for two minutes, continue on-foot to the chest, enter stealth, try to open the chest or kill the guards, fail immediately, kill five waves of guards before you realize they're literally spawning in mid-air three feet away from you, run away, try again, fail again, and if you're a normal human being, by this point you break your fucking keyboard in half and set yourself on fire. And apparently there's a game breaking bug as well, which may have rendered my experience more pleasant had I encountered it. This DLC is a complete catastrophe and the worst time I have spent playing a video game in at least the last year. I was barely able to forgive the main game for its stupefying amount of flaws, but this is so, SO much worse. Avoid it at all costs.

DLC verdict: Don't get it OR Get it in the Season Pass OR Get it in the Deluxe Edition Comment: This is the FIRST part of Tyranny of King Washington. While the funky premise of an alternative timeline is cool this DLC is far from polished. Even less than the main campaign and this pulls it down. Moving around in snow is tedious and fighting huge groups of soldiers over and over gets annoying. You get the WOLF special ability here and it is set in the Frontier. Also buying this DLC separately is nonsense because it has an open ending and you have to buy the other 2 DLCs to make sense of the story. This DLC is part of both the Season Pass and the Deluxe Edition of AC3 so you could possibly get it through there. P.S.: To activate the DLC, write down the CD-key Steam shows you (you cannot copy+paste it), start the game, go to Extras and then to Redeem Code (if it does not work go to uPlay and redeem the code there too), restart the game. Brilliant title, awful implementation of the story, literally about as ham-handed as Ubisoft could make it. Gameplay is fun enough. You learn 3 overpowered abilities that let you wreck face. Ending was satisfying. Not worth the 10 bucks. Not worth even the $2.50 per episode when on a sale. I'm not going to hold the fact that this is supposed to be an alternate retelling of colonial events against it; this plot on its own is downright silly. I have just about zero idea what Ubi wanted to accomplish with Tyranny of King Washington. EDIT: Steam is reporting "0.0 hours played." This is untrue. I put in around 10 hours playing all three parts. You access it through the main AC3 menu, however, which might explain why my time recorded is not representative of my actual time played.

this is the worst DLC I have ever seen, avoid at all costs. lame and utterly pointless story, as far as I've forced myself to play it, which was up until the last mission of episode 1 (of 3) where I encountered a game breaking bug which ubisoft never bothered to fix. the suggested 'workaround' is to delete the save game and start from scratch again. (yeah, and guess what, the bug can still occur again) no, thanks. this should be removed from steam as long as this bug isn't fixed.

Just a warning, play this DLC without having installed/or uninstall, the second episode of Tyranny of King Washington cause you get the stalk the guard dog patrol glitch, which is a game breaking bug. Aside from that get it on a sale.
