really impressive visually and interactively in helping visualise and use 4D geometry in our 3D world. highly recommend.

The math for this checks out. If our neurons were wired in just the right way we would be able to imagine in our minds what a 4D shape might look like and see it for ourselves the way it is. Not just a slice of it but the whole object in its entirety. The sad part about that, if you were able to, is that you would never be able to show anyone else what only you can see.
To try and draw or recreate these shapes would be like trying to draw in 3D (upwards) on a flat piece of paper (2D.) The direction just isn't there.
While you could draw a projection of it, no one would understand because a projection will always appear to be distorted, much like how the angles of a projection (the shadow) of a regular translucent 3D cube are not 90° even though we know that all the edges of the real 3D cube is.
In this game you are able to inspect and play around with essentially just that, the 3D rendered projections of 4D shapes. It is even possible to recreate real-life objects in the Shape Builder and then extrude them into mathematically accurate 4D objects even though as I explained, displaying the entire object in 4D is physically impossible, in real life, games or otherwise. This is the closest we can get.
By playing for a good few hours straight I successfully managed to build the upper slide and barrel assembly for a Glock and then rotated it into the 4th dimension. I couldn't really comprehend what I saw on the screen but it looked really cool, like some twisted thing you would see while tripping on illegal substances. An Export feature is in the works and will likely become a feature of this game eventually. That means we one day get to 3D print the weird/abstract things that we create in the game.
The Shape Builder in its current state is quite challenging to use as objects can only be moved by typing in the coordinates manually. If you don't happen to have thousands of hours of experience with CAD software then please don't feel bad if you can't figure it out. The community and devs on the game's Discord server are also super friendly and will help you out.
More features for the Shape Builder that aims to make it more user-friendly is being worked on, last I heard.
Overall I think it's important to keep in mind that this is a small dev team and that making design software that works in 4 spatial dimensions is not a small feat (it has never been done before,) so I would say that some patience is warranted before drawing any final conclusions.
There are plenty of mini-games within the game like the "Shape Matching" mode and the "4D Maze" (both of which I found particularly fun) to keep yourself occupied with until more features gets added to the Shape Builder and other modes.
Last but not least, a good few people who understood the math have tried to learn how to visualise these mysterious shapes over the years, yet no one has ever succeeded. To me that is the appeal of this game, the hunt for the unknown, the possibility, however unlikely it may be, that someone, somewhere, could develop enough intuition by playing around with these projections for long enough that it just clicks into place and they are able to understand it and visualise what no one else before them ever has. Who knows, maybe that someone will be you! Or me!

When i first saw the game, i was excited to try it out. But after playing the game for almost an hour, i found it to be quite tedious. I found the beginning tutorial to be one of the best out there, it was simple and intuitive, and it's interactive nature allowed me to easily get behind the controls. The games on the other hand, are one of the worst 4D games I ever played. aside from shape matcher, the rest are far to complex to even be remotely fun. Having a lenth of more than 5 to 10 min top. One where you have to guess the rotation of the object you can't even see and the other forcing you to match 3D cross-sections exacly without mistake. The 4D maze was decent but without the ability to rotate and see your position you're just going to end up going in cercles, until you find the end goal. If your a casual wanting to experience a cool 4D game, then this game just ain't for you, if you don't have prior knowledge of 4D or genius.

I really wanted to like this game. As a self described 4D addict I really wish there were more 4D games and I got really excited when a friend sent me a link to this one. And looking at it it looked alright, just a mini game pack but it could be fun. When I played this game I was disappointed by the lack of care that went in to it. Immediately the game throws a tutorial at you that shows you how to rotate and that rotations happen inside of planes. This is a very nice tutorial and I liked the bit about planes as lots of people don't know this. I then tried the 4D maze and to my dismay I wasn't able to rotate in 4D, making the maze frustrating and difficult rather than enjoyable. Why show me how to rotate if I can't? Also the maze needs some projected shadows to make seeing where I can go easier.
I checked out the shape guesser, and while it is annoying and a bit unintuitive to select which shape you thought it was, it was pretty fun. If it was a list of words or something even better, and had 4 times the shapes, I think it could have been a lot more fun.
Next I tried the shape builder. I made a sphere and set its dimension to 3. I pressed the view button and it was a hypersphere. I then selected prism. It had no options to change the polyhedron or polygon base. I grabbed a torus node and placed it behind it, and connected the torus output to the prism input, expecting to extrude the torus. instead, I just got a ditorus fused to some prism I didn't bother identifying. This game looks very polished but it falls apart when you try to use it.
I was extremely disappointed with the shape builder but I looked at the 4D playground and it was actually pretty nice! its missing the 600 cell for some unknown reason, but it allows me to edit the shapes which is very cool, and shows a bit of helpful info on the shape. It didn't talk about the rhombic dodecahedron for the 24 cell though and incorrectly stated that the 24 cell has no 3D analog.
I tried the rotation matching game and it was pretty fun and a decent challenge. I tried the pose matching game and it was very difficult and not very fun. Next I tried 4D chess and I didn't play it for very long so I can't give a good review on it but I didn't like that I wasn't able to rotate the board to see certain axes easier, and I didn't like that the two armies were diagonally offset, and that the pawns could move horizontally instead of just forward.
The achievements in this game are very annoying. any time you click on a shape an achievement pops up with some silly name like "weird but I'll allow it". Also, you spelled descent wrong.
Over all, I'm mixed on this game. It has very polished UI and a great 4D slicer, but everything else in the game feels like very little care was put into it. I really wish I could leave a positive review on this. If the game improves I will change my review. Thanks for reading this long winded review.
