Game has a lot of promise, and does a ton of things really well. The deck building is very in depth, and the interactions between cards & leader are very good. The main issue with the game is the fact that nothing is explained. Or if you understand what things are, it still takes tens of hours just to know what's going to happen. First thing i noticed was the difficulty "curve" which is basically a wall. Did amazing in Delve, got to level 2, my opponent on TURN ONE had a 4/3 hamster w/ "ANY time it attacks, weakest creature gets +2 STATS" This 1 hamster destroyed my entire team before I could get enough mana to summon a 2/2 creature which instantly died to the Hamster on turn 3. The game itself plays extremely slow. Turn 1, you have zero mana. Only choice to discard for mana. Turn 2, you have 2 mana, if you don't have a 2 mana card, you burn another mana. Back to things being explained poorly, or not at all. There'a a card that "transforms another card in a card that cost +3 more" You have ZERO clue what you're getting. I was winning a match, played a card that transforms. It chooses my 10/5 Wizard, "sacrifices" it (removed my wizard from the board) gave my opponent +5 health and then somehow my opponent had a card despite it still being my turn. The game itself has so much promise and depth, but watch any video and you'll quickly realize there's so much going on, so quickly it takes tens of hours just to start to understand all the interactions between the cards. Even then imo it's still impossible to know bc of some cards transforming in to other (random) cards that cost 1-3 more. Am i suppose to memorize every single card and pray i get the few that actually help my run? For 5$ this game isn't a bad deal. But for what you get, i would honestly recommend people watch a lot of videos before buying and see if it's for them. For me, I've bought games worth 2-3$ where i play nearly a hundred hours. With the difficulty "wall" in this game, idk if i have the stomach to grind it for another 10+hours just to understand what's going on in the combat. Reading comments from 2023, I just realized this game is full release and plays as wonky as it does? Really sad, this game could be so much more, honestly thought for 5$ i was paying for EA access. The slider which you can improve animation speed is optomized to poorly, when it's over 75% my game does nothing but lag, again this and many other "features" is why i thought this game was in EA. It's been released for over a year and this it's final form? Like i started this review, so much promise so much potential. And then you watch the combat and it's just rectangle moving w/o any clear indicator of what's happening. Fun game but if you like MTG don't pick it up. It's close to MTG but only in the confusing hard to synergize way. , worth 5$? absolutely not.
