Amusing to have on my screen while I play a horror game, or any game. I hope they add more animations, interactions, etc. Even a bugcat music player where they dance would be phenomenal.

Always wondered where these little blue guys came from. Any who, just wanted to support the developers for making these cute critters.

It's a very cute concept and the design and animations are awesome, but it gets too bland after a few hours. All the characters behave the same, you can barely do anything with them and lacks other features. Sadly not worth the money so I won't recommend it until it adds more value.
That doesn't change the fact that Capoo is the best thing ever though

Capoo on steam! What a time to be alive! I have been following the adventures of the bug cat for many years now and couldn't be happier to have little capoos fooling around on my desktop now.
Interactions
You can drag and drop the cats with left click which allows you to toss them around too. The trajectory is predetermined though. It would have been nice if it interacted with the boundaries of the screen though. You can also right click on them to get a little animation varying between annoyed, happy, confused, and surprised. Little capoos ask for food everynow and then which you can provide by clicking on the food bubble. Sometimes they poop, which you can also clean up. With 4 capoos the demand for food and poop cleaning is constant to the point that I'm struggling to finish this review. Nothing bad happens if you don't tend to them.
Progression
There are 30 different versions of capoo which you can unlock over time. In the beginning, every 5 minutes you can smash too capoos together to get a random new one. As you unlock more, the cooldown on getting new variants increases.
Technical aspects
It does take a toll on the CPU which is to be expected for this kind of game. With 6 creatures my 9700k is sitting at 25% and my 2080S is at 20%. It couldn't be better, but not the worst either. (Have you seen the last of us?!)
The music is nice, for 5 minutes... Luckily you can turn it down in the setting while leaving the little capoo noises on.
The game supports dual screen setups and you can configure the capoos to be on top but that option does not seem to do anything for me since they are always on top anyways.
Conclusion
Overall, it's a cute little desktop companion app. Honestly with the current features, it is not worth the asking price, but if you are a big capoo fan go for it.

Is it worth 9.99$? Probably not, feature wise it's very simplistic and reminds me of the early 2000's desktop pet trend.
However, I would literally die for this six-legged blue cat, so this is a GOTY in my book.
For Capoo's fans, I'm sure the idea of a bugcat desktop companion will appear amazing and funny. Indeed it may be for a few minutes, but there is in fact not enough content to justify the price, and a couple of missing features that one may only wonder why they aren't there. Sadly, I'd pass on this one.
I generally enjoy Bugcat Capoo, at least as a cartoon, so I thought I'd try this game for sure. As others mentioned, the price is way higher than one might expect when comparing with other products on the store, similar or not.
Regardless, as a desktop companion, it's cute enough. The animation looks good and the bugcats seem responsive enough (though I do have some trouble with the petting move). The instructions are also fine: the English translation is a bit broken here and there but it's comprehensible and the whole thing is very simple anyway. All in all, you pay to see one or multiple bugcats run and fool around on your screen, get to feed them and clean them after taking a dump (a bit too frequently in my opinion), and "merge" them sometimes to receive what essentially boils down to new skins.
On the other hand, the lack of content appears evident quite early. After 15-30 minutes, you've likely experienced everything the game has to offer (every animation and every possible interaction, every sound (only one song loop!)). For sure, you'll need much more time to get all the skins as there is a timer between every possible skin acquisition, but then the skins don't appear to come with any new animations. Would have been awesome to see chef Capoo attempt to cook something, or builder Capoo attempt (and fail?) to build something. Similarly, it would have been really nice to get to see Dogdog, Tutu, the black cats, perhaps others (not just Capoo in disguise). And then, while I certainly did not expect otherwise, it should be noted that you do get the cuteness part of Bugcat Capoo, but not as much his monstrous part often found in the series, and none of the more varied comedic value found in some of the cartoons/videos.
Technically, I couldn't find many problems. As a minor issue, It's a tad annoying that bugcats requiring food or cleaning cannot be moved away with the mouse until you've done what they require or they get tired of waiting. Otherwise, the game lets you materialize as many bugcats as you want (as far as I'm aware) though the animations FPS will very quickly prevent you from putting more and interacting with them effectively. I'm thankful though that the application limits its resources use, which means that regardless of how many bugcats you have, it won't too significantly impact the rest of your apps.
In summary, it's funny for a little while, especially if you're a fan of Capoo. The basis of a bugcat desktop companion is there and functional. But I can't really in good conscience recommend it, seeing as there just isn't that much to experience or do for this price. So many potential features aren't there (as of now?), which makes the game feel like a barebone clicker game quite fast (the achievements are an excellent indicator of this idea). I let it on for a bit more than 2 hours, but don't see myself play it much more, maybe let it run idle so that I may see all the skins.

It's a desktop pet kind of application. Besides clicking to feed or clean and hovering to pet, the main 'gameplay' comes from merging Capoos to get new variants.
It's simplistic, as these things are, and most of my enjoyment of this probably just straight up comes from the fact that I really like Bugcat Capoo. As such, this might not be your thing if you don't care for the character.
I last installed something like this some fifteen years ago. I feel old now.
- Small addendum, as I had 30 minutes of 'use time' when I originally wrote this, and they've since decided to add DLC with costumes: this app is overpriced. It would still be overpriced if it included the DLCs for free. I was already iffy about the base app price, but the DLCs are a step too far for me. These costumes do not take enough effort to make to justify the price AT ALL.
Also, tell me where this €16 Capoo plush is. I don't see it. I see only merch in South-Korea. Or are we talking about Chinese knock-offs and the Redbubble IP infringement?

I saw negative reviews saying that wallpapers aren't included with the game, but that isn't quite true - they are sort of included, but you have to know where to find them. To get the wallpapers, open the book > settings > click the bugcat icon. This opens the Capoo website in your browser. At the top right, click English (if you read in English). Now click Download at the top right, then click Wallpaper Download. This opens a Google Drive link that gives you access to two of the wallpapers shown above in different sizes. Hope this helps someone!

It's cute but it lacks basic features unfortunately. You can't just run it normally without Steam active for example like similar applications can. Wallpaper Engine for example has that option. It will also run in your taskbar and doesn't have an option to minimize to tray. The interactions you can do with Bugcat are very limited and overall it's an extremely simplistic "game". Store page doesn't really tell you much because there isn't much to tell.
The overlay runs on top of everything that is either windowed or windowed borderless. There are some basic options, like hiding either the book or the bugcats from showing on top. If you hide the book this way and click a bugcat the book shows up again, so that's kinda handy but it's mostly coincidence. By clicking the bugcat the overlay is in focus again and so the book shows up.
A lot of the time the bugcats will generally be in the same places on your screen. They tend to keep running into the edge of the screen which looks kinda silly. It feels like it's totally not aware of anything that's happening.
"Gameplay" loop consists of clicking little balloons to either feed the bugcat or clean up his poop ._. Doing either doesn't really seem to reward you with anything. Just 4 basic animations. One prior to the prompt and one if you click the balloon. There isn't any variety in animations. Every 5 mins you can bump 2 bugcats into each other to unlock a new one. Besides that you can drag and drop them, right click them for a basic animation and "pat" them. Which isn't really all that "reactive". There seems to be only 1 song and very few sound effects. There might not even be 10 of them.
The wallpapers in the video on the store page aren't included. So that's not that great. Overall I can't really recommend it really. There are similar games which are free like Cheeky Chooks and this game is about €10.
I'm not sure if I will keep it honestly.
EDIT: They added the DLC's so I removed that portion. Some people say the wallpapers are included on their website. Which is really just not included. The whole point of including something is having it in a folder aside the game files. That isn't rocket science and takes a few minutes from the developers. I refunded this application but we do have SteamDB which lists the files and the filetypes: https://steamdb.info/depot/2253471/
I also removed the portion stating that this might be fun "if you like Bugcat". I love the cute little blue squishy ball of emotion. That's why I bought a plushy and I've bought this software and refunded it after. I'm aware it's not suppose to be a full fledged game but as a fan of Capoo, I simply expect more. Not putting Bugcat Capoo as bait because he's so darn cute and then doing just enough to make the game addicting. Because that's what it is. The only portions that have sound effects are the portions where those sounds need to make the game more addicting. As for the rest, it's mute.
And that's with everything with this software. It feels like something that just needs to be addicting enough for people to buy their overpriced DLC. It's such a shame. The quality of animations is brilliant. Capoo is as cute as ever. From a technical perspective, it kind of works and that's it. Out of everything in the Bugcat Capoo universe, we have an interaction where we can clean up his poop.
Why can't we summon a cloud? And then he whacks it or uses a rope to tie it or something. Maybe simply being able to drop meat instead of clicking a balloon and the bugcats going for it? And then he makes that grumpy face when he wasn't able to get it because you moved it or strawberry bugcat ate it? The grumpy ._. kind of face and the happy face of him sprinting are already in the game.
If you give him food the sound effects just seem to be missing. It's just very low effort, unfortunately. For a €3 to €6 I can understand this. I would've even kept it if it was the base price of €10 with updates instead of packs. But Capoo Pals also has a huge amount of very expensive DLC..?
Ps: It seems unlocking more bugcats doesn't even require you to figure out what combination unlocks what. Variants are unlocked randomly, not based on what bugcat you bump into each other. Worth mentioning is that you can get a Bugcat Capoo plushy for about €16? So if you really want something that will last, pay that extra €6 and get yourself a plushy instead.
Pps: I checked, apparently I paid €18,66 for a bugcat plushy. I thought about my statement in regards to the price of the game compared to an actual plushy and I think it's a bit unfair to compare that. I bought it prior to a lot of the surreal things happening last few years so the prices are very likely higher now.
