[i][/i] I recently discovered there are many hidden object adventure games about Christmas, including from the HOAG dev I'm a new fan of, Domini Games. One the one hand, this is one of the most impressive HOAGs I've played, but I also want to NOT recommend it! This is one of the longest HOAGs I've played, and also has one of the most lengthy bonus chapters I've seen. It's amazing how much gorgeous "generic secularized winter holiday" artwork can be enjoyed here. Gameplay is very focused on mini-games over hidden object scenes. Even combining objects in the inventory will initiate mini-games! Most mini-games were fine, but I despised some of them. The action-based skiing/sledding games were so clunky to control, but I only had fractions of a second to react to obstacles. It was horrible! One mini-game was non-functional. I was forced to skip the sequence the snowball launcher. The gameplay is why I want to give this game a thumbs down. It was not designed to create a smooth, casual experience. I got stuck many times. There are many whackadoodle interactions that nobody could predict or expect. There are not good breadcrumbs or sign-posting to give an indication of how to overcome obstacles. Often, the comments are completely useless and there's no way to know how to progress. Randomly attempting to use items is REQUIRED. There are plenty of active areas of the screen that have nothing to call your attention to them. You just have to mouse over everything. That's when I decided to consult the guide regularly and not waste a lot of time mousing over everything. I have more criticisms of the storytelling, but this review has gone long, so nevermind. I will refrain from not recommending Holiday Guardians, but only in the hopes that the other Christmas Fables game I bought, The Magic Snowflake, will be better. Do not disappoint me again, Do Games!

Get as far as the snowball fight in this game and the launcher doesnt work, even tried restarting the game and it made no difference

It was a fun game, colorful, and lovely artwork. The game crashed but restarted fine. I was surprised it had swearing sprinkled in it because it is a Christmas game and would usually be for adults and kids alike.

Game crashed almost 2h in, profile got somehow corrupted and automatically deleted as a result.

I have literally gotten as far as 14 minutes of play time inside the game and it has exited twice at this point, for no known reason. I'm going to test the other game by the same company to see what the deal is there before I look at refunds. I have changed my game play choices, although, it's not a happy medium, it is somewhat playable now. However, I should really be permitted to choose those at will.

Aye - I don't know about this one. :( It starts with beautiful music - 1 track plays then after 2 minutes, you're sitting in silence. C'mon this is a Christmas game - where's my background music? Why is it so quiet here? :( There are some real oddball combinations - so basically click everything on everywhere because you'll never know what item will work with what object, especially with plus items - the combinations are just plain weird. I understand the game-makers are trying not to make it too obvious to increase the challenge, but some solutions are a bit cringe-worthy. Puzzles are way too easy, and there are very few HO scenes, but the ones they have are nice. * I see past reviewers said their game crashed - mine never did, smooth sailing here.
