After playing this game in my xbox360 and then here well enough, and after the remastered version have been out for over 4 months, this is my review: In short, it's a masterpiece. From soundtrack to story and quests, the game is doing what many other games fell short or near as decent, the only negative is the gameplay which I specifically mean the combat. But then there are games far worse, it's just the weak spot this game has. In more elaborated of my opinion, this is a game which will have you remember some parts of it, impacting the player that much it will get etched into your memory if you enjoy this enough. The focus on the somewhat outdated typical but modernized RPG, it's the world and characters that makes the game feel worth exploring just a bit more, giving the sense of a mystery to discover and solve or be a part of. Comparing it based from what I have seen to the remaster, since I haven't played the remaster yet this opinion might not worth much to you, but it's a start and a sense of the direction of what to expect if I'd to purchase and play the remaster. I'm basing this opinion from sources such as youtube and other game review websites even from Steam Store tracking through wishlist. -The remastered version is awful compared to this game. Performance is bad, the changed art direction for characters design is very special in the not comedy sense, the graphics are not my taste, the user interface is cheap and reused from other games making it feel more generic than unique, even the changed weapon positions displayed in 1st person is odd, the animations doesn't make sense and are Mass Effect Andromeda like, somehow they managed to make the remastered version even buggier with more frequent crashing to desktop, added game and lore breaking mechanics that don't belong in the original world. -The remastered version in my opinion is a massive downgrade to the original in many ways. But you may like it because it's more convenient to play less meaning the added "modern" mechanics. Of course there are mods, but they are to expand and not to outright fix the core game with replacing whole aspects drastically. At least they kept the soundtrack. And it's well not enough for me to be interested to play the remastered version. Even after over 4 months since release, there are no mods to fix the character art design to the original, there are some few attempts but they ended up being close to the remastered design rather than this game. And even then, bethesda will update the game, breaking many mods as they have done in their almost 14 years old latest Elder Scrolls main game. It's like bethesda became like microsoft, they work on a beta-phased unfinished and buggy version of what they sell, breaking more functionalities and fixing other bugs. For example the latest microsoft update for w11 produced a bug that will outright destroy the user's ssd. A seemingly horrible business model in my opinion, to pay to be a beta tester for a long time, and when they move onto the newer version, suddenly the product works better when left alone, less bugs. But you have to participate in that process rather than just paying for a finished product. What do you think, is it just me exaggerating or am I not being harsher on these obvious points? Do you enjoy the remaster better after you already played the original? Is this the new standard? This game is my favorite for a reason and the remastered version was a huge disappointment to me.

The gameplay is good because its bad, now as for the storyline its great aswell, also the voice acting is funny as shit. But if you are serious about playing oblivion dont bother with the original version just get the remaster

I never used to be into fantasy games, but after playing Oblivion and finishing the main story, I’m blown away. This game is a masterpiece. The world is gorgeous, the story is engaging, and even the humor hits just right. If you’re into open-world games (or want to try your first one), I can’t recommend this enough.

The game where you go 50% into the main questline then suddently going onto differend sidequests and starting a new character almost every day to try out "new" classes

I haven't played this game as much on my pc as I have on my Xbox, if you don't want to pay for the remaster the original still holds up and is my favorite Elder Scrolls game.
