A fantastic game to pick up and play.
I usually play simulation, management and strategy games but Web or Dead is a great discovery and a highly enjoyable game.
Its an easy pick up and play game which you quickly get drawn into the challenge of completing the levels and speed running your way through. Both graphics and sound are very well developed and up there with any solo developed platformer. The different spiders also add depth to the game in which they have varying strengths and no two levels feel the same, keeping you wanting more.
Overall, money well spent, good amount of re-playability and i look forward to more levels and games from the creator.

Disclaimer: I know the developer personally, and haven't finished the game (probably about 75% of the way through).
OK so first up, it's called 'web or dead' but the main part is the dead. There's an achievement for dying 50 times. There could easily be two more (I am terrible at platformers). Prepare accordingly :D
I found the gameplay addictive. You're always SO CLOSE to getting through the bloody level. Sometimes speed is king - other times a more careful approach works best. Occasionally the game throws you a curve-ball and asks you to run with it. More than once I found myself wondering WTF I was doing wrong, and then figuring it out, and realising I'm actually just an idiot.
In terms of graphics, the UI's good, there's a clear "retro-plus" (for lack of a better term) style they've gone for that's consistent throughout the game and works really well. Shader effects are incorporated around the lava which is a nice touch and nothing that'll kill even an older PC.
It'd be nice if we could change controls in the middle of a level. Also when swinging between points, that feels like it could really do with an animation or just a little extra something. Deaths could do with a bit of pzazz too, IMO, given they happen so often.
Overall IMO this is a very good first showing from the dev and I look forward to seeing more!

A simple premise, swing for your life but like all good games a simple premise that is full of challenge and at times incredibly frustrating but always in that I will get the timing right on this swing way that makes you keep trying until you do it. Fully recommend this game

A little gem I hope more people get to experience; it's surprisingly enjoyable and addictive for a solo developer's first game.

You play a spider, traversing caverns, factories and cities, while avoiding lava, spike traps and poison gas as you swing from point-to-point using strands of silk, as well as crawling and gliding at times. Core game-play is based on timing, and getting into a flow-state while keeping the momentum going. Expect to die a LOT, as you learn the ropes (strings?); however, once you get into a rhythm it is very satisfying as you try to line up whole sections perfectly without dying, to achieve faster times and possibly even a flawless run.
As well as the speed-runs which can earn you awards, there are also a plethora of secret areas, requiring careful exploration or quick and skilful traversal through tough areas. These extra goals can unlock other types of spider which are specialised at certain actions.
Soundtrack is good too, with some funky tunes that you will be humming all day! Game runs really well and the minor issues I have noticed and reported have been fixed by the developer very quickly. Hoping plenty of people buy it so it encourages the developer to make some extra content, like more levels, but well worth the low price as it is.

Before this game came out I had been keeping up with the creator's posts about it on Reddit. I was pretty excited and I have to say it's surpassed all of my expectations.
Don't be fooled by the apparent simplicity of the gameplay. None of these levels will ever get old and the style in which you start with levels that use only a few features and get steadily more as we progress is always a reliable tactic for game structure.
While some parts may seem impossible at first, you can be assured there is always a solution and it *will* become easier the more you do it-a lot like the combat system in Undertale and Deltarune. Simple yet varied, and still requires you to think through what you're doing and develop some skill, and while you may have to do a lot of trial and error at the start, if you really stick with it you're guaranteed to not only succeed but be able to come back and do it better.
I really love the style of gameplay. It feels very smooth and well developed. It has the classic platformer feel of Mario games and the like, while also feeling a lot like its own thing because of its unique game mechanics. Mechanics which are both challenging and fun, and really do make you feel like a spider, which I absolutely love.
The different species and accessories you can choose from are all really fun and cute, and the stats on the different characters really adds to the gameplay as it lets you get a bit critical and creative by choosing a spider based on which one you think would be best suited for the challenges of a specific level. Their unique stats are well incorporated and makes the gameplay feel different when you switch characters, not to mention how well it fits with the specific spider it is. The selection of species is also really great and you can tell a lot of though was put into it. This also lends to replayability with how you have to unlock the different types of spiders you can use, which makes for different gameplay experiences after your first time doing a level.
The hidden areas, collectible stars, and emphasis on speed running also gives the game replayability, encouraging the player to keep coming back to sections they've done and do them better now that they have more knowledge of what lies ahead. And the secret areas and collectible stars are great because of how it encourages you to explore the area, which adds to the fun and also feels very appropriate for the spider theme.
The art style and different accents from the variety of biomes also helps make the game more fun and contributes to the overall mood and feel of it. I really love the simple yet expressive art style, especially of the spiders themselves, which look adorable. And seriously, that soundtrack is amazing and really gets you into the right rhythm. The gameplay, music, and art compliment each other and really do a wonderful job of working together and shaping player experience.
At its core its a fairly simple game, but I think the creator took their time and put a lot of effort into getting it just right and it shows. Web or Dead is definitely deserving of some more attention. I would also love to see some sort of make-your-own-level feature get added.

Fun and tricky game, I've died a lot getting the hang of the swinging but that is half the fun, (and there are achievements for dying so it softens the blow!) Enjoying the different types of levels and how it gets more skilful as you go along, good balance of speed and thinking, how do I get there?! Nice touch being able to unlock different 'outfits' for your spider, 10/10 swing in style and burn in lava forever
