My initial impressions of this game where not the best, in fact I thought it was rather awful.
But after a lengthy span of time, and over multiple play sessions, I actually grew to like the game quite a bit.
It has a really good amount of maps all of which are quite different, a rather large and sizeable roster of characters from a variety of different films, and a pretty damn good amount of kart customisation.
If you are after a kart racing game, you definitely could do worse.
