Greedland is a top-down roguelite shooter that delivers relentless action wrapped in the chaos of alien warfare and explosive firepower. Built in Unreal Engine 5 and currently in Early Access, it sets its sights on players who crave that frantic, overwhelming feeling of fighting back against impossible odds. While it owes much of its structure and appeal to classics like Crimsonland, Vampire Survivors, and Nation Red, Greedland carves its own path by offering a more visually modern experience and a deeper progression system, aiming for a sweet spot between arcade simplicity and build complexity. From the first moments of a run, the game wastes no time hurling you into battle against swarms of enemies, demanding quick reflexes and constant adaptation. The core gameplay loop is simple but incredibly effective. You start with a basic weapon and fight your way through increasingly dense waves of alien creatures, collecting power-ups and currency to enhance your gear and abilities. With over 300 available upgrades, each run feels different, depending on which weapons and modifiers you choose. Whether you're tossing plasma discs that ricochet through crowds or summoning orbital strikes to clear the screen, every new build feels like a new experiment in destruction. The moment-to-moment combat is fast, flashy, and often absurd in scale. At its peak, Greedland becomes a spectacular bullet ballet, with explosions, gore, and neon lighting overwhelming the screen in a way that’s almost hypnotic. What helps elevate Greedland beyond a simple horde shooter is its surprisingly robust customization. You’re not just swapping out weapons—you’re shaping an entire combat identity through a combination of armor classes, auxiliary gear, skills, and mod trees. Each weapon can evolve dramatically with the right upgrades, and synergizing effects like freezing fields, fire damage, and crowd-control drones leads to that satisfying “power fantasy” that these games thrive on. It’s clear the developers want players to experiment. Some runs might emphasize mobility and control, while others are all about turning your character into a slow-moving tank that vaporizes anything that comes near. There’s a genuine joy in discovering which combinations click. However, not all of the game’s systems feel equally developed. The level design, while serviceable, often lacks variety and depth. Most environments are open arenas with minimal verticality or distinct features, which can cause a sense of repetition across multiple runs. The aesthetic, too, leans heavily on generic sci-fi assets. While the enemy models, weapons, and effects are functional and readable, they rarely feel unique or inspired. This leaves Greedland feeling a bit sterile outside of its explosive combat sequences. It's clear the focus is on gameplay mechanics rather than worldbuilding or visual storytelling, but a more distinct art direction could help the game stand out more in an increasingly crowded genre. Progression in Greedland straddles the line between satisfying and grindy. Unlocking new weapons, gear, and permanent upgrades through in-game currency adds a long tail to the experience, but the early hours can feel slow, especially for players who want immediate variety. The ability to “pay off” your commanding officer to skip early missions is a clever mechanic, offering a tongue-in-cheek solution to repetitiveness while also streamlining progression. That said, the game does reward perseverance—new gear often significantly changes how you approach combat, and it’s gratifying to return to early missions with a vastly improved arsenal. Technically, Greedland performs well for the most part, even when the screen is saturated with enemies and particle effects. However, certain weapons and abilities can push the engine to its limits, occasionally causing frame drops or visual stuttering. Sound design is punchy and effective, if not particularly memorable. The soundtrack complements the action, but it doesn’t leave a lasting impression. These elements work well enough to support the gameplay, but they don’t enhance the atmosphere in a way that would elevate the experience further. Multiplayer adds a welcome dimension, particularly in local co-op, where the chaos is amplified and coordination becomes more crucial. Playing with a friend transforms the experience from a solo power fantasy into a team-based survival effort, with different builds and roles working in tandem. While online multiplayer isn’t available at the time of writing, its planned addition could dramatically extend the game’s appeal, especially for players who enjoy competitive score-chasing or shared progression systems. Despite its rough edges, Greedland succeeds in its primary mission: to be an addictive, over-the-top action game that rewards experimentation and aggressive play. It's not the most visually creative game, and it still has areas in need of polish—particularly in presentation and level design—but the core combat loop is strong enough to make up for those shortcomings. With more updates and continued development, it has the potential to become a standout in the modern wave of survivors-like games. Even in its current form, it delivers on its promise of chaotic, satisfying violence that keeps you coming back for just one more run. If you’re a fan of sci-fi shooters, roguelite progression, or the sheer thrill of watching thousands of enemies explode in a swirl of particle effects and laser fire, Greedland is well worth your time. It doesn’t reinvent the genre, but it doesn’t need to. It just needs to keep the bullets flying—and that, it does incredibly well. Rating: 8/10

Good game. Nice progression system. A few flaws IMO: Sounds are kind of annoying, which is not something I expect from games like this. Usually they are almost addictive. I often find myself taking off my headset. This is mostly a me thing, but it is not random, as long as you survive you can get all the best skills every time. So the only real difference between rounds is the Armor type and Weapon type you choose. It is also not very engaging once you get built up you can just stand still by the upgrade machine. Overall good brain off type of game though.
