The best strategy game ever created. Timeless by design and flawless in execution. The Definitive Edition is excellent and most people have moved on to that but this version still plays remarkably well and is closer to the 1999 original.

I grew up playing Age of Empires. If you are into strategy, gathering supplies, researching upgrades, building an army this is your game!!!!

Old school very simple strategy game, i still enjoy years after was released.

Still one of my favorite games to this day. I've tried playing the 3rd one, but it's not quite the same and I don't find it as interesting.

Still the one I go back to every time. The interface and feeling haven't been improved on... Ever....

Absolute classic, I used to play the original age of empires II, and have been until recently, I wanted a game to play with my brother, and thought ages of empires would be fun, but I couldn't even get local multiplayer to work for some reason so I decided it's finally time to upgrade, I chose Age of Empires II HD edition over the newer definitive edition for 3 reasons. 1. The affordable price (without a steam sale) 2. Kept the old graphics which I like a lot 3. Multiplayer still works and it's great Overall I'm quite happy with it, my only complaint is that I tried to run it on Linux but I couldn't get over 5fps, my windows laptop (which is more modern) ran it fine but fair warning to Linux users, you might need to do some tinkering even if your Linux laptop meets the minimum requirements (although no amount of tinkering could improve my experience.) me and my brother still have lots of fun playing it and it's a timeless classic, even the old version from the 1990s is still incredibly fun if you're looking for a single player experience (it's hard to find the disks though online.) anyway yeah, game still has people playing multiplayer, and still has a community of players, if the definitive edition is not on sale and you have an age of empires itch, this is the game to buy

Amazeballs experience! I benn playin since i was a little tyke! wow what a game. Highley reccommend. A game for true intelectualls! My granny can scrap better than that!

AoE 2 is the biggest masterpiece of all RTS games, maybe all games ever. I have played hundreds of hours on the old 1997 version

Bought this game for mum cause she used to play it when it first came out on CD. +700hrs (and still going) all hers! Congrats mum, keep enjoying yourself!
