A little gem, worth it's price. I was really surprised by the quality of the animations given the more minimalist graphics.
Making the food was fun, especially once you've learned the recipes. I wish you could do more of it as you can beat the game in roughly two hours the first time, but at the same time I feel like the story wouldn't benefit of a longer run time. You can see everything in two playthroughs, although I wish the memories could be a bit more skippable for that.

Primarily story driven games about trauma with retro graphics and after-thought gameplay elements are definitely a successful genre and fine for some folks... but they've never, ever been my thing. Which I hope gives my review some additional weight - this is an excellent indie game that's well worth its $4.99 price tag, and would be worth it at double the price. And no matter your tastes, it's worth your time if you're truly interested in video games as a craft and "experience."
It's uneven in places, sloppy in places, overly predictable / hackneyed in places, and generally low budget/quality in places... but those places don't make up the majority, and there's some real art with a distinct voice in here that's more than worth the price of admission.
Very much an example of "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts."

It's a cute small game with a unique style and story telling. I very much enjoyed the different perspectives throughout the story, really ties it together. Also cooking is fun lol.

This is an interesting walking sim that takes place in a diner going through Lynchian situations.
Really good, if odd vibe ❤
I bought this game quite a long time ago actually, after playing its next fest demo (which is still available I'm pretty sure), so I advise you to go & do the same, if you like some weirdness in your gaming.
Overall I give it an 9, music was so so, retro graphics are charming & I loved the setting & story.
Big reccs, has a cheev for patting a cow.

while we wait here was an absolutely beautiful story about various struggles in life. theres beautiful graphics, unique characters, and a ton of symbolism.
for starters, there is quite a bit of variety within the game. depending on some choices in the opening sequence of the diner, that determines if you play as nora or cliff for the rest of the story. each character has unique voice lines throughout the story (not just the same lines dubbed over by the different actors). the choices of the opening scene also have more impact than just who you play as, theres also two unique cutscenes depending on your choice. theres also unique cutscenes at the end of the game for helping each person in the diner (if you get the achievement for listening and helping a character, then youll get their cutscene).
the story itself is pretty interesting. you talk to various people in the diner and you get their life stories while serving them food and drinks. you also get to play as each major character, seeing these major events through their own eyes. this does an amazing job at showing you their story instead of just telling you. some of their lives and regrets are much more stylized and symbolic (such as hank and eddie) while others are very bleak and to the point (like william, alex, and lisa).
the graphics are reminiscent of older games, kinda like old playstation graphics. theyre really nice looking and the graphics bring a sense of nostalgia and have the vibes of old horror games.
the only complaint i have is the whole “end of the world” thing. nobody ever refers to it as the end of the world, just a giant storm. of course, this storm presumably leads to the end of the world, or at the very least, causes some major damages. but pretty much every character comes to the diner to get some food and to take shelter from the storm. they arent afraid because they fear the end of the world, nor do they tell you their life stories/regrets because theyll be dead soon. they tell you simply because they want to or because they want your advice. still, this doesnt necessarily make the game or its story any less amazing.

Very nice and mysterious. I still didn't know how to interpretate the whole thing, but very nicely made if you like this kind of game. Voice acting is superb,

I enjoyed this game quite a bit- it has some light diner sim gameplay while you listen to (and play out flashbacks of) the clientele's problems. There's an underlying mystery to the main character(s) you play as, though it's pretty easy to piece it together. I played through it twice to see most of the outcomes and now I'm wishing there was even more to play, haha.
Other strong points, in my opinion, would be the graphic style (I'm a sucker for anything mildly low poly or PS1 inspired) and the cozy atmosphere of the diner itself. The cooking segments were really fun and I'd like to chime in with everyone who's asking for an endless mode! The voice acting was surprisingly good, too, I liked it. I think there was one instance of an AI voice used near the end of one route, which kinda took me out of the emotional scene happening, but everything else is by actual actors. As a side note, the horror aspect of the game is pretty minimal, so don't let that put you off if you avoid horror games.

A very short but really engaging walking simulator. You are investigating the interwoven stories of the visitors of a roadside diner, with some supernatural or hallucinatory content that you have to figure out for yourself. There is gameplay, from a kitchen simulator to a first-person shooter, which is rudimentary but a great addition to this otherwise story-based game. I also liked the art style, similar to Mouthwashing but without the body horror. Overall, for me this game is a perfect level of being disturbing enough to keep me engaged throughout but never actually scary or anything. Also, it takes less than 2 hours! Highly recommended.
