The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Hearthfire: Is a very cool DLC It add's Three new house's that you make yourself, Three new Housecarl's which are Rayya, Gregor and Valdimar. Each house can have one Steward, Plus you can adopt up to Two Kid's and they can have a pet. Some time's Bandit's, Giant, Pack of Wolves and a Bear or even a Dragon will attack your House and anyone outside the Home so you will get to kill the invader's and keep your house safe. Now down to business The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Hearthfire is a 10 out of 10 DLC.

I built a house. 10/10 EDIT: Why do people like this. Here's an actual unscripted review. This dlc allows you to build your own house in 3 different holds. (The Pale, Hjaalmarch, Falkreath) You have to get materials to build it, which must be found or crafted. Frankly, it can take a while to build the ideal home, but it is very satisfying when you finally complete it. You can also adopt up to 2 children. Like I joke: "the spouse gives you money, the children take your money" They will ask occasionally for presents or allowances, though this is entirely optional. And the option to play tag or hide-and-seek is there, giving the most stressful objective in my opinion. Other good parts of the game: - If you build a kitchen, you get an oven that you can bake from. - The ability to hire your own personal fucking BARD for your home. - A trophy room to display your favourite creatures from the game. - A lot of time spent on your home. Unfortunately, due to your house not being in a town or city, your house is prone to be attacked by wolves, bandits, giants, dragons and a bunch more I have yet to encounter, which can be a good or a bad thing depending on when they attack. In conclusion, it's a decent dlc that I personally enjoy, and with it being the cheapest of the 3 dlc that Skyrim has to offer I would recommend looking at it. If you wish to try it, but don't want to pay full price, the sales make this dirt cheap. Or if you are looking to buy the base game, I would recommend the legendary edition, since it comes with all the dlc. TL;DR See first line you lazy fucks.

I'm currently replaying old Skyrim edition, with all DLCs, and so I remembered that taking time off battles and fights and "great deeds" to build my own house was a relaxing and fun experience. If you are up to mods, I'd strongly recommend Shezries Kitchens and Greenhouses for Hearthfire. https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198052871752/myworkshopfiles/?appid=72850 On another note, I don't know why Bethesda wants the original Skyrim and all its DLCs hidden in Steam, showing only their Special Edition. This is ridiculous!

I made my first manor! Took quite the materials and gold and little bit of time, but constructing the manor will take your time. It is good to have a home, which you have build it with your own hands. You are choosing what your manor will have and you can craft all the furniture or make a follower a lord of the manor and she or he can furniture the manor for you. Buy animals, plant your garden and enjoy the beautiful views. It is always good to be in your big, luxury manor.

As someone without a family, I found this add on to be the perfect purchase for myself on Chistmas. Now I can build the house I never had and adopt all of the children so I can sit in my living room surrounded by them while I weep silently to myself about how I will never have a normal life.

-Quick Review- So you've spent hours and hours in Skyrim, you've seen the land, from east to west, and you know what? You like it here. So why not build a house and start a family? With The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Hearthfire DLC, that's exactly what you can do! Hearthfire was released in late 2012 by Bethesda and was the second DLC Bethesda released for the Skyrim series. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=517357094 -Detailed breakdown review- Story: There really isn't a “story” per say, there are events that can happen to your family that can constitute as a 'quest to save your family' (“GIVE ME BACK MY SON!”). But Hearthfire is more of an aesthetic addon to the Skyrim series, not a typical DLC; where it provides it's own quest series and new characters introduced. Gameplay: The main feature to notice with this DLC is that you can build your own house, you need to purchase and gather the resources to build the different rooms. There is a small degree of customization for how you build your house, but they all end up being pretty close to the same. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=517357111 Achievements: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Hearthfire has 5 achievements, all of which are easy and insignificant. The only thing to slow down this achievement earning is how much gold you have, and if you've done the quests required (earning the Jarls favor) to purchase the land. Price: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Hearthfire is priced at $4.99. Actually that's pretty close to the perfect price. You should have purchased the Legendary Edition in the first place, however if that isn't an option this DLC is relatively cheap and a nice addition to the Skyrim core game. Conclusion: There's not much else to say about this DLC, it adds a nice personal touch to the hard land of Skyrim and gives you a place you can truly call “home”. I recommend this DLC to achievement hunters, or people who want to immerse themselves within the Skyrim world even more. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=517357147 DLC Reviews Here's the URL to see my review for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Here's the URL to see my review for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dawnguard The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Dragonborn ------Edits and updates------ Edit/Update August 28, 2015:

While Hearthfire is in itself rather mediocre, it does add a little bit more to the game, although being more directed towards those who want a more RP-esque element. Nothing spectacular, but it can and will keep you occupied and entertained if you have the patience for it. I know I'll be making full use of this DLC while slowly recovering from an upcoming surgery.

Many people don't recommend this because it doesn't really add much, but I can assure you that you'll enjoy it. Building and purchasing houses really makes you feel at home while you play through. After a long day of killing draugr in a dark cave, there's nothing like going to a massive house with a family and chests full of sweet rolls waiting for you.

You could probably skip this one, but I still found that it had enough content to improve my game experience and it's priced low enough (particularly during sales) that you really can't go wrong with it. The houses are somewhat customizeable, but you are pretty limited in what you can build and where. Honestly, you can download better player house mods, but the HF houses are pretty decent with lots of storage and all of the crafting stations, and there are some nice perks. I especially liked the greenhouse, which is great for characters looking to level up alchemy since you can grow your own rare ingredients and harvest them conveniently for some really high-priced potions. I also like how you can recruit stewards, and leave them with your family and house carls. The extra hands are useful since some of the homes, particularly Lakeview Manor, seem to be right on top of spawning grounds for all sorts of Skyrim baddies. Prepare to lose some cows and chickens, since pretty much everytime you fast-travel you will trigger an attack by giants, bandits, dragons, or whatever. Great place to raise a family! Adopting kids is sort of entertaining for a while, but there isn't a whole lot to the experience after a few interactions. The kids will say different dialogue about their home depending on which house you move them into (including the player houses in towns that you can get in the standard game, provided you've upgraded them to add room for children), but mostly they get repetitive pretty quickly. It is a nice way to offload all the daggers, sweets, fruit, and toys you manage to pick up while questing through dungeons and earn a little buff (the gift of charity) for the effort. "Here honey, have this dolly I took out of a necromancer's dresser!" The added ingredients, as well as the oven, are nice if you're the cooking/crafting sort of player, but you'll need mods to make the churn work properly and get milk from your cows. Don't look for any questing added by this DLC, other than the token favors to the jarls you need to complete in order to be able to purchase property to build houses in each of the three holds. Building the houses themselves can get a bit grindy as you spend the majority of that time doing things like searching for goat horns and making nails.
