Honest review here.
I liked the game. It is relatively short and fun. But the mid to late game is a bit of a slog. The upgrades don't help much after a point. There are area upgrades and global upgrades, and I was hoping for some global upgrades that just weren't there. So the global upgrade points were sort of useless at the end. I finished the game but I would've appreciated more ways to make the end game fun.

Factory town Idle is a complex looking but deceptively simple Idler game that is great if you are someone who likes checking in on the game every day or so after work. The games usage of Idle time lets you configure the towns and then speed forward while they build up your machinations. It is worth getting if you enjoy idler games but it does not have much depth so get it on sale if possible.
Pros:
-Incredibly solid concept of using land to build buildings that then feed into production chains
-Incredibly solid Idle gametime implementation
-solid automation systems that remove tedious clicking
cons:
-Incredibly basic once you get automation. You can set the town to build buildings with auto assign and they will just auto balance production needs.
-Each town felt the exact same. You could build 200+ farms in the desert and gem mines happily existed in an ocean town.
-The game is very easily softlocked by ordering too many buildings. It will permanently keep coins at zero as they are auto consumed on buildings. It does resolve with enough time but for me it took 4+ days of idle time

Number go UP
You start with 1 town and will acquire 7 more, each having their own unique resources and benefits, providing access to new quests. There is a quest list that has been fun to follow that will guide you through most of the game as well as giving significant rewards.
The game itself has been super enjoyable to learn and understand; the systems feel intuitive and balancing/scaling is great. The gameplay shown in the trailer is what most of the game plays like. Lots and lots of timers/progress bars.
The "offline progression" system gives you 1 'Time Token' for every 60 seconds the game is closed.
The Time Tokens are then used (exclusively) to advance the gameplay speed, when you see fit.
I quite enjoyed this aspect as opposed to more traditional Idle games that just give you the progress that you set yourself up to acquire. There is a default limit to the maximum number of Time Tokens that you may have (AFK time acquired), with upgrades available appropriately as the game progresses.
I've played lots of Idle/clicker games but this one was quite unique.
10/10
$14.99 - $19.99 value imo
