Can't play without login into a ubisoft account and the process for doing that doesn't really work

All I can think of when playing this game is revisiting my childhood. It's exactly as I remember it in the XBOX 360 days. This game still gives me that childlike joy I had when I last played this game nearly 10 years ago. 10/10 game.
(also, I've had no issues with the Ubisoft launcher, despite other people clearly having lots of problems, so idk what thats about)

The game is great but you need Ubisoft Connect that demands you enter the password every time you start the game if Ubisoft Connect is not already running and it keeps wanting to login to Facebook after completing License B for example. Since this game no longer has online features, it should not need Ubisoft Connect.

Great game, destroyed by Ubiplay. Steam needs to take a hard stance against this kind of anti consumer behaviour.

Well, its Trials. The gameplay is mint, you probably know this already. So why am i leaving a neg? Ubisoft.
Ubisoft, in their proud tradition of treating their older products like unwanted orphans, apparently saw fit to update even >10 year old games with their new 'ubisoft connect' launcher thing replacing uplay. Apparently this didnt go so well insofar as uconnect will demand you re-login to ubisoft EVERY SINGLE TIME you launch the game. It does not remember the password. Can you even remember your ubisoft password? I couldnt. Writing from the perspective of steam deck, this is a massive pita to say the least.
After that, there seems to be a somewhat less than 50% chance the game actually starts properly instead of getting stuck on a blank screen just after the title roll, meaning you have to kill it and try again (and login again!). All this means that at least on steam deck, you might be screwing around for at least 10 minutes just to get the game running. I have no idea how this counts as 'deck verified' cos it flippin well is not, id encourage everyone to send feedback that the game is in fact not deck verified when steam asks you to.
The other big bummer is that online service is fully taken down (as Ubisoft is famous for doing with their older games), that includes the usermap browser which unfortunately cuts off a HUGE amount of content from the game. Probably the vast bulk of content really. This is a real shame and lowers the value of the product considerably.
Apart from these things, the underlying game is great of course. Just one again Ubisoft is determined to shoot holes in their own feet. Overall i cannot recommend this game in its current state, especially for steam deck.
