This is a dark, Roman Empire–themed spin on the classic Wizardry formula, and it absolutely nails that eerie sword & sorcery vibe. If games like The 7th Circle or Inferno hooked you, this feels like a natural successor, with atmospheric dungeons and a grim, horror-tinged aesthetic that’s pure catacomb-crawling bliss. It’s not flawless - the menu system is clunky, and the grind can drag down the pacing - but those issues don’t overshadow how much fun it is to carve your way through the shadows beneath Rome. If Roman Era dungeon crawling sounds like your jam, this one delivers.

I just finished the dungeon crawler Ludus Mortis.
It's a pretty good game for fans of this type of RPG. The game itself is a typical example of the genre, only this time set in an ancient world. As usual, we explore dungeons, searching for hidden switches, walkable walls, and traps, and fight a multitude of (unfortunately, not very diverse) enemies, finally kicking the ass of the strongest demon.
There are quite a few professions available and even more skills and stats, except that the most powerful is the typical mage, and having two of them in the party allows for quite a comfortable game.
The game has the feel of old-school dungeon crawlers.
