It's different. Gameplay is rough but experience is fairly unique. Worth it if you're feeling adventurous.

I played this game at 1:00 am when I had work tomorrow and went insane. A good game would replay 100 times out of 100 would recommend if you are chill with some janky controls. I'm gonna try to do my own love quest so I'm going to the mall. Wish me luck guys!

this game saved my marriage
Actually has a pretty good moral lesson if you can figure out how to get the good ending.

Hilarious, enjoyable way to spend an afternoon or two if you're a follower of Chris Chan's story! While I wouldn't classify this game as something worth playing for it's own sake due to how clunky it can be, it's length, and barebones level design it's definitely a very creative look into the mindset of one of the Internet's most interesting individuals with a decade + rapsheet of being a massive weirdo (later criminal).
The game is a very cool meta commentary on how Chris Chan views the world and tries to navigate it; her worldview is incredibly small and she doesn't seem to want to improve herself in anyway, so while they're not necessarily good points, the basic level design, simple art style (heavily inspired by the old Pokemon games; gotta give the creator props for that given Chris Chan's obsession with Pokemon), and clunky mechanics feel analogous to how Christine sees the world and operates, as in with the understanding of a child who believes strongly in cartoon logic
Some bugs I found mainly revolved around getting softlocked in a couple levels of Starkat which I brought to the creators attention; mainly involving enemies spawn camping you with how the levels are programmed. He assured me that he's looking into it, though, so expect that to be fixed soon! Otherwise a really smooth experience besides the super floaty physics which like I said feel is almost intentional because of the above
All in all I'd definitely recommend it to my fellow Christorians or even my other gamer friends for something on the weird side of things. I'll definitely keep tabs on Otis future works!

If you're interested in this game it's probably because you get the underlying reference that Love Quest is making, i.e. "this is a game about infamous internet personality Christian Weston Chandler". It's the reason why I picked up the game. I got the joke. The wink. The nod. This is a simple game that focuses on the era of Chris' life where he would go to the mall with his "attraction sign" and try to solicit boyfriend-free girls. Love Quest takes a few creative liberties with the story by making you approach the girls as the player character first though.
As the ladies turn you down you'll lose some of your Heart meter until your heart is shattered and at 0%. From there you'll need to retreat back home and play some Starkat, a sidescrolling platforming game featuring your wholly original creation. I get it, Starkat is an analog for Sonichu. You'll need to complete the levels in Starkat before you can return to the mall the next day. Each time you return to the mall there will be more and more security guards ("Jerkops") to dodge.
Without spoiling too much more of the game I can say if you're even passively familiar with the Chris-chan lore you'll pick up on the major notes in this game. Chris-chan may have turned into an absolute monster who went on to do something truly unspeakable to his mother but this game hearkens back to simpler times when Chris was just some buffoon yelling at his webcam to Clyde Cash and the other trolls being a thorn in his side.
There's not much game here but there are some secrets to uncover and for $5 it's worth a spin.

The soft lock is infuriating. The character randomly becomes stuck and unable to move, requiring a restart. This is especially terrible in the maze where you're being chased. Had it happen roughly a dozen times before giving up.

Buy it if you are a gaming geek who spent a lonely Valentine's Day.
I laughed a lot at the humor and the storytelling that exceeded my expectations.
In addition, the action game in the game is an excellent level design, seemingly difficult but easy to solve with ingenuity.
I won't spoil the story, but it combines retro adventure and action to create a unique and didactic tale.
While short, it is well worth the price and I recommend playing through to the true end.

Okay, serious review time. Is this a good game? No. This is a lesson in tedium, repetition, and fighting the mechanics of a platformer that is actively trying to thwart you with its cumbersome controls. You will spend 10% of your time, or less, playing as Chris Chan, and 90% of your time playing Starkat, a Sonic-esque, but Bubsy-like torture experience of a platformer. Fitting as Chris spent 90% of his life on video games and 10% actually living. The world is small, with a miniscule mall to explore, and a handful of NPCs to interact with, and the colouring is sterile and boring.
Yet all of this works. The game is a meta commentary akin to Spec Ops The Line, and Undertale, but shone through the lens of Chris-Chan's ugly world. For him, the world is boring, empty, and small. He has nothing to live for, no companionship, and his loneliness shines through. The game of Starkat has some genius concepts, especially when you first defeat the master troll. This is a game that requires you to attack it with the autistic determination of headbutting your way through a brick wall - the game will misguide you, lie to you, and deceive you, with the sole intention of immersing you into the role of chris chan. You are not the hero of this story... you are just an instrument for making things worse.
The secret ending is something I don't want to spoil, but it really was what turned this game around for me.
Finally, some suggestions:
- Make the mall a little larger, a bit more bright, and perhaps add some security guards, a food court, diversify the shops, add pepper spray ¬.¬
- Mary Lee Walsh college love quest DLC
- Snyder board game store DLC
Respect to the creator for this true and honest game of kick the autistic.

If you are considering buying this game because you know about Chris Chan and want to play a funny reference of his life, do NOT buy this game.
I bought this game not really expecting much. I figured the game would have poor visuals on purpose but compensate with some puns and references. Yet I was disappointed.
1) The game can soft-lock you frequently, this can happen either by standing in some random spots or even talking to other characters. I got stuck at least 8 times just trying to get to day 2. The game is clearly not tested.
2) The Starkat mini-game is super janky. It is nearly impossible to maneuver the character.
3) The game has very little content and it very uninspired. Not only the visuals of the game, but also dialog is very bland, there are barely any jokes in here. You can finish the entire game in less than a couple of hours.
My conslusion is that this game was developed in a rush, either for a game jam or just to make a quick buck. The idea had so much potential, and yet it delivers nothing.
