Songs of Silence was pretty good. It's more about being fast with the macro on the overworld map than I expected though. I have only played the campaign but I can see this game being really good in multiplayer.
As for the outfitting of your armies, levelling commanders and upgrading stuff, this game is a little bit more on the simple side than would normally fit my preferences. I definitely prefer 4x titles or civilization type games, but on the other hand, those games are just barely playable in multiplayer, with a few caveats to boot. So where Songs of Silence makes some sacrifices with the complex kingdom/army management portion of the game, it frees up space for being a more fastpaced multiplayer wargame. And that's pretty cool, even though it's not my cup of tea.

Absolutely beautiful game.
Manages to create a unique and interesting original fanatasy world!
The game plays like a combination of the best parts of HoMM and autobattlers with cards added to the table.
Feel like a labour of love.
Is this really a bad game to be this Underrated?
Design: This game's unique art style complements with its world design which looks dangerously mysterious but uniquely beautiful where I often from time to time has to pause from my journey and just take a break to absorb the beautiful world created by passion. You can see the love and care the devs put into the art style design.
Game-play: Here it is less about micro management and more about macro management where you make the decision of which spell card to use at what time. Even though it takes away the decision making of controlling units you have control over which units to deploy to counter the enemy units. And you get a Kingdom to manage but it is all macro level.
Story: As a single player fan I enjoyed the story even though I have just finished part 1. It reminds me of the golden age of RTS singleplayer with rich campaign story. In this campaign story there is a lot of things at stake so you have to make your decision wisely because each turn counts. With the Burden of Responsibility you have to safely navigate your people from Wartorn Kingdoms to a Safe Haven. But is it over yet? I don't think so because a Catastrophic Event called The Silence is coming to engulf the world you know and love. You have to take bold steps to ensure your people's future.
Audio: All I can say is music is also shown the same level of love as the art style. The voice acting reminds me of Settlers 5 especially the narrator. There is some sense of depth in the character's voice which makes you feel right among them.
My Take: I will give it strong 8.5/10 but I feel the rating will improve as I keep on playing it. I just gotta say that we gotta support passionate devs like this because this game is underrated and deserves more love and support from us as gamers, we barely see such type of single player story RTS in the Gaming Industry nowadays. Funnily I was actually thinking of not giving a review since my Gameplay time is less but then it is summer sale and people are looking for a new game to play and if my review can help the devs get more sales and reviews then why not. I am just doing my part to support passionate devs, I leave the rest up to you.

I have enjoyed this game immensely so far. Great strategy title with asymetrical variability with every play through. The factions are very diverse adding a great depth while also making it easy for new players to jump in with the simple recruitment system. I would highly recommend this to any strategy fan. I do however have a few complaints.
1. PLEASE ADD LOCAL COOP! I would love to be able to play this with my friends locally. A hotseat feature would easily make this a 10/10
2. Minor crashes. Seemingly sporatic, but the game is so easy to launch it does not take long to get back in.
8/10 please add hotseat

Fairly Respectable game.
Functionally its HoMM but auto battler instead of turn based. (with limited ability use during battles), so it will appeal to anyone coming from that type of game.
Campaign is reasonably lengthy and you'll get solid value out of it for the price.
Art is top notch, as is the music, and they combine to make the game feel very immersive.
There are flaws, however - particulary if you want to play skirmish.
The devs gated wayyyyyyyy too much stuff behind unlocks - attempting to unlock all hero classes and vocations will take you forever.

This is a really good game in my opinion but there are so many bugs and hit box issues like with cavalry and some ranged units

The best way for me to describe this game for me is Fantasy Risk: a tactical realm management in a mostly zero-sum environment, where taking from your opponents makes you stronger at their expense, and where you have to balance which battles are worth taking while considering other, unaccounted-for opponents ready to feast on your carcass.
Overall, I quite enjoy the game itself, although what drew me in were the aesthetics of the game. It's truly beautiful!
As a bonus, the developers are eager to hear from players and have created Forms to gather feedback for future updates.
I really hope that the development continues, more updates are added and more DLC bring new campaigns or factions.
A particular wish of mine is to have a more intricate economy, where artifacts are not so much a gamble and where you can have some kind of "strategic goods" to provide new troops or world spells. Also, improving the UI to better signal which kind of settlement there is, for example, if it produces building materials or gold.

Campaign was great with an interesting story considering how short it was. Each campaign map was forcing you to learn a new mechanic while playing it. I am more of a fan of playjng at my own speed but the campaign puts you in positions where you need to use what you learned and not QUICKLY but pretty fast(you get quite a few obvious queues something is about to chamge). Its refreshing playing games like these because for the first time in forever im unlocking different classes and starting decks without having to buy some season pass. Skirmish mode seems fun and i wanted the maps to be bigger but i see how that can be an issue with substance. Game is very refreshing reminding me of unicorn overlord/symphony of war. If this team makes a game similar to this on a bigger scale and more story i think it will be even better.

I feel like this game is criminally underrated and needs more attention. It's one of those examples where everything comes together in the most immersive way to create an experience that is bigger than the sum of it's parts. Good music, amazing art, good writing and story, great voice acting, cool characters, well designed mechanics and animations, awesome environments and lore, very creative faction/unit design, fun fast battles and interesting map layer.
It reminds me a lot of Heroes of Might and Magic, not as a 1:1 comparison but as a world you want to get lost in and explore. The unit abilities remind me of Age of Wonders and the battles remind me of Dominions. Although this game is a lot simpler and easier to get into, even for those that don't play a lot of strategy. There are cards used in combat to deploy abilities and it's possible to sometimes move special units during combat. There are also cards on the map layer, however this is not a typical deck building card game, the cards are more like fancy UI options that load up before they can be used.
The Campaign is where it's at mostly, it features a lot of well done voice acting between characters which really fleshes them out. Missions are interesting and unique. I think it works best on a big screen where you can take in all the eye candy. I would sometimes take a break and just stare at the map like it's an animated screensaver, or load into a forest location to listen to the wind. All the great qualities I mentioned in the intro come together to make the campaign a compelling experience.
There is also skirmish with various modifiers and scenarios that feel a lot like isolated campaign missions. But like I said the immersive campaign was the main show for me, imo it alone is worth the price of admission (you don't need the Lighteaters DLC to enjoy it). I recommend playing on challenging and restarting if you fail a mission in order to really feel the impending doom and desperation this game is so good at evoking. Without spoiling too much, about half way, there is a certain awesome character that appears in the most desperate situation with a massive scary invasion army and the music kicks in at just the right time while he speaks some of the most terrifying lines. Very memorable, hit me right in the feels. It's full of moments like this that are worth experiencing and rewarding the devs for, which is why I posted this review.

Songs of Silence – From Demo Disappointment to a Little Strategy Insider Tip
I had already played Songs of Silence in an early demo before the official Steam release – and, to be honest, stopped playing pretty quickly. As a strategy fan, the game just didn't appeal to me back then. After a few moves, I was over; a lot of things seemed immature and difficult to grasp.
I gave the game another chance during the summer sale – the price was fair, and my curiosity outweighed my skepticism. And what can I say: A lot has changed since the demo. Not necessarily in the graphics (which were already quite decent before), but the game itself now seems much more rounded, understandable, and strategically well-thought-out.
What I noticed right away: The first steps are now explained much better, and you understand how the mechanics work together more quickly. And you realize: This isn't just about hitting things. Sometimes it makes more sense to entrench yourself in your own fortress, let the enemy approach, and then catch them weakened. True strategy, that is – not just on the battlefield, but also on the world map.
What bothered me a bit, however, was the lack of continuity within the campaign, especially with regard to the factions and their heroes. I had really grown accustomed to my first heroine – fought numerous battles with her, found a new home – and then her story simply ended. Instead of following her further path, the campaign switches to a new faction in a different part of the world map. Sure, that provides variety, but I miss the feeling that my progress so far really has meaning or is being continued.
I wanted to see more – more about the path this heroine is taking, more about the units she can still recruit, more about the cards that are added as she levels up. Instead, it's basically like, "I'm glad you've achieved something – now we'll continue with a new faction somewhere else." It almost seems as if each faction only exists for a few sections and then becomes irrelevant, even though you've only just begun to truly identify with it.
What I'd also like to see is a bit more diplomacy in the game. For example: I'm besieging an enemy fortress, the enemy no longer has a realistic chance – why can't I force them to surrender and let them leave peacefully? That would open up more tactical options and also fit in well with the story.
And there's still room for improvement when it comes to moving units. Currently, I have to take my hero directly into a fortress to take units stationed there into my army. How nice would it be if I could simply send troops – visible on the world map – to join my army. These reinforcements could then become a potential target for the enemy, which would introduce new tactical considerations: "When do I send them? Will the enemy intercept them?" That would have real potential.
Conclusion:
Songs of Silence isn't a perfect strategy game – but it's improved a lot since the demo and brings a breath of fresh air to an often stagnant genre. If you don't just want to fight mindlessly, but also enjoy thinking, planning, and waiting for the right moment, this is a game with more depth than it might seem at first glance. I'm glad I gave the game another chance – and hope that future updates continue on this path.
