Terfenstein 3D Reviews

It's Wolfenstein with a narrative, gameplay is good, story is bad, have to assume it's satire. Wouldn't recommend buying this game, it's literally just Wolfenstein but the enemies (minus the dogs) are "Terfs". Nothing much of interest, and i'm going back to Doom 3 PEACE!

Bought this game never having heard the term "terf" and not actually reading the store description (just the tags, FPS, Retro, Old School, etc.). I thought it was weird that all the bad guys were girls - and that the dev put a full screen photo of themselves up at the very beginning of the game. The game is basically just Wolfenstein, which I already own, and can be modded. So I got a refund.

An actual review of the game: + Good gunplay, fun map design, and bloody good combat. Bonus points for the good gore and explosion effects. - There seems to be no save option, I accidentally quit mid-playthrough, and had to start over, it's not a long game, but not a feature I like. As for the "message" of the game, if you didn't describe anything, I would not have gotten the references to gender-fascism. It's mostly just dudes running around screaming ala Wolfenstein 3D, so it's not even that heavy handed as a intentionally "political" game. At the end of the day, it's a fun and well made shooter. Not a bad buy for anyone looking for fun five or below game.

Based and IRA pilled. You shoot british terfs and make real life brits be very upset over it. What's not to like?

It's a boomer shooter with a streak of contemporary shock jock pizzazz. The gameplay is inspired by Wolfenstein, and the music goes from Wolfenstein/Doom into Doom 2016 around the 3rd stage. Honestly, the soundtrack went pretty hard for chiptune cheese metal. While the minigun and pickup detection is a little rickety at times, the shotgun felt very powerful, and I liked that it was weaker at longer ranges and didn't have quite as wide a spread up close as it does in Doom. Thematically, it's very timely. It's meant to shock, but once it has your attention, it's worth taking the time to think about for a second. It's a response to people in the United States saying that they want to 'eradicate transgenderism from public life', which can only mean mass imprisonment and/or mass graves. In a dystopia where that comes to pass, the unnamed protagonist doesn't really have any other recourse but to fight her way out. This last part is me digging way too deep into an indy game meant to garner negative attention, but considering how she handles her weapons with similar competence to the Doom Marine and Agent Blaskowitz, it's reasonable to assume that she has a background in either law enforcement or the armed services. I think that can be another thread of discussion-- despite her service that is superficially lauded by the kind of people who would want to lock her up just for being (presumably) trans or gay (or both), she'd still get the same brutal treatment if the 'eradicate from public life' crowd have their way.

No run button (a staple of 90's fps), enemy pick ups glitch through walls, levels could have been designed better on oblige (ai doom/wolfenstein level generator) on default settings, graphics are laughably bad (shotgun is used left-handed, but is placed on right side of screen. Protag would have broken shoulders tryna fire a weapon like that), and most egregiously YOU CANNOT RIDE THE FORKLIFTS! I don't care if you gotta remake the whole game in the Build Engine; you do NOT put forklifts in the game and not gimme the option to ride em. I wasn't expecting much, given the laughable premise (ain't there another infamous id game mod someone made to blow off steam? I think the dude's name was Eric). But I can't even bring myself to stream this game on my youtube channel. It's just not fun. Might make a quick video on it with the footage of what I could stomach to play.

Love the concept, hate the final product. No difficulty selector. No option to center the weapons (chaingun especially suffers from this). No save/password system. Movement speed is dreadfully sluggish and therefore makes strafing practically the only option to move at even a decent speed. Death animations on the dogs are slow and make it unclear if they're dead or not which wastes ammo. Most doors are seemingly decorative which makes navigation difficult and discourages exploration unlike Wolf 3D and Doom, which encourage and reward exploration and also don't have decorative doors. Collision detection on health, ammo, armour, key and weapon pickups is garbage, causing me to look back to make sure I didn't miss any pickups (again Wolf 3D and Doom don't have this problem). The sound effects are also kinda trash as well, they just become annoying to listen to. Finally, the amount of enemies is ridiculous to the point where I can go through a door with half health and 75% armour and get shredded by a firing squad in 10-15 seconds. But hey, it's not all bad, the shotgun is punchy and satisfying to use so at least there's that.

Woman Killing Simulator. Just call it Womanstein 3D, better title IMO. Its just a shitty Wolfenstein 3D knockoff but you kill women exclusively. The "OMG SO OFFENSIVE!" and provocative theme of the game is what intrigued me, but its honestly just window dressing to somebodys amateur game jam project. None of the Trans/TERF stuff is interesting or well done, again, its just a Female reskin of Nazis and that is really it, lame! It falls into the trap of many "So retro!" styled pixel art games where it clashes multiple styles without really imitating or being reminiscent of the thing its parodying. Sometimes it even uses god awful smoothing/blending filters on its pixels, why!? I always see those options in emulators and re releases of older games and think who the hell actually likes this crap? Well, these devs apparently. The level design is really garbage, hope you like running around literal circles with tons of doors that may or may not open in constantly repeating rooms with no distinct landmarks or enemies! If this was some free to play game or just hosted in a browser or something as a little edgy throwaway game then yeah whatever, but I was actually thinking it might be a game due the way its listed. But sadly no, Wolfenstein but you kill women (Uhh I mean TERFS), there, I spared you the slog of playing the game, understand that premise and bam, youve gotten everything worthwhile out of playing this game without even playing it. And last but not least, do not pause the game! Because if you do, the games gonna crash and you're gonna be starting all over again.

I'm for artistic expression in games and allowing the boundaries to be pushed but, "Unleash your pent-up fury-" along with the devs history shows this isn't just artistic freedom, it's projection with a sprinkle of insecurity. This is not a game to show "very real transphobic violence many transgender people face for just existing" nor is this a game for healing trauma. It's a game the developer self inserted themselves in their fantasy of shooting people (women) up. The moment you boot up the game, you're greeted with a heavily photoshopped image of the developers face. The character you're playing as is clearly meant to be the same person as the developer; a self insert. There is no story in this game, aside from the Steam store description. The voice acting is GOD AWFUL and cringey. The two X chromosomes (the chromosomes that make up a biological woman) are put on a flag in fashion of the nazi swastika flags- implicating biological women are nazis...? There is literally nothing of value in this game. There are plenty of games on Steam that take the piss on nazi Germany, but more so in a fashion of making fun of those figures involved. This is the first I've seen someone draw unironic parallels and try to pass it off as "bringing light" to certain issues today. There are so many other meaningful ways to develop a game that holds a message and opens the players eyes, but this wasn't one of them.

movement is slow for a retro clone/boomer shooter, the HP pickups only grants 1 HP, the Shotgun is on par with the shitty shotgun of Redneck Rampage, and the options are very limited, and also double hitting escape on the keyboard closes the game. I can tell it's made by one person, and that this is reminiscent of the indie games on the Xbox 360 era, but this feels more like an early access game than one deserving of a full release.
