Honestly, despite the jank and whatever trivial shortcomings it has, I think this is a decent game. Haven't gotten any problems thus far and I am enjoying the little puzzles and the bite-sized battles. There's an auto mode for the grind and the AI stuff isn't overused. Might not be for everyone, but if you enjoyed WoW, Ragnarok online; point and click games, this might be right up your alley.

This is an enjoyable game. Does it have high end graphics? No. Does the game feel like it is in Early Access? Yes. Are the developers working on the game? Absolutely. They are CRANKING out patches. Is the game fun? Yes Is the game as advertised? Yes. Is the game like WoW? No? Not really. It's an RPG with some MMO feeling elements to it sure, but honestly I wouldn't bank on that comparison to be the selling point. Yes you can have a tank, a healer and DPS. Yes there are large bosses to fight that utilize those specializations... But having played WoW for god knows how long, I personally don't relate it to that. It's more GW1 than anything. You are able to see what the game looks like before buying. So don't expect the character models to look different from what you see and then what you find after buying. Final thoughts: I love the soundtrack. The gameplay loop is entertaining. The progress is... Slow. BUT! If you are a grinder you will love this game as there is plenty of that. The graphics are very mid. Personally, I am not a graphics queen so I am unbothered. It's an 11 dollar game and you can easily get hours out of it. I REALLY REALLY wish this had multiplayer though. Ohh and it has the Triad card game from FF8 which is excellent. 7/10

This is awesome. It feels like a single player MMO in a way, complete with built-in raid frames. I love putting together a party and managing their builds and this game scratches that itch. If you've played Guild Wars 1, this game reminds me of that. Be aware that there is a high level of jank, and the translation is rough. The AI generated portraits are also not great, I do not like the style at all. Its pointlessly horny and doesn't match the rest of the game's style, which is fine, nothing special. If you are a fan of planning team compositions in MMO's, check it out. Its a unique game worth trying out. Also: if you enjoy playing as a healer but don't want to deal with other people, you might enjoy this!
Barely any noticeable changes from prologue version.
The game is still plagued by it clunky UI and text prompts competing with it's story dialogues, keeps this unique concept from turning into something exceptional.

Raid boss mechanics. Puzzles. The card game from Final Fantasy 8. AFK mechanics for when you need to grind. MMO style crafting/gathering. Developer being responsive to feedback. Lunatic difficulty if you want it. If this is at all your kind of game, you're going to like it.

The trailers show cool endgame fights that give a singleplayer mmo feeling mixed with RTWP crpg gameplay that i think is cool, but the early game is a godawful slog, with you needing to do level grinding that feels artificially padded to extend game time, and the levelling up feels like it's the only difference between winning and losing hard, not skills or gear you find. Some big enemy attacks don't seem properly telegraphed either, and there's a general lack of polish in alot of areas like the UI and character designs It's a shame cause i like the idea, but the execution just isn't good. i may change the review if the late game is really fun but i doubt it

Tl;dr: Elegy of Fate might provide you with great fun if you enjoy a party-based RPG and grinding, but do not expect high-level accessibility features and polish. I went into the game with high hopes since I adore MMORPGs, but haven't played them for over a few years since I no more like online games. Elegy of Fate definitely caught my eye due to its MMORPG-like nature which allows singleplayer gameplay. Unfortunately, the game lacks the amount of polish I'd expect from a game, so I was disappointed. You start the game by creating the first member of your party. I love spending time creating characters since it is something that rewards the player throughout the game. Unfortunately, Elegy of Fate's character customization is highly limited and randomized. Even changing the name of a hero randomizes all of its stats. I can't see the reason behind that. You can't even name a hero properly that you randomized a hundred times to get nice stats for. The game's pacing is also problematic. The difficulty scaling does not feel right, and there is little to do to overcome the difficulty, especially in the first couple of zones. Grinding for items is alright for me since I love the idea of it, but doing it mindlessly against meat shields was frustrating. The worst part of the game is definitely its user interface. It is hard to navigate, tooltips need to be thought on, and even skipping or proceeding dialogues feels like a chore. I would expect things to be unoptimized regarding user experience since this is an indie title, but I can't even find my way around the user interface. The story sections are more extensive than I expected in a game like this. I got into the game wanting to fight monsters and defeat bosses repeatedly, but my experience was constantly interrupted by the story and non-combat sections that I did not care about. I definitely would prefer the story not to interrupt the players who are more into combat. Overall, although I wanted to like the game since there is no other game like this one, the experience it provided did not make things easy, and I ended up getting frustrated to drop the game eventually. If the game's pacing and user interface do not bother you, you might enjoy it, but I ended up disliking it.

This is a pretty interesting and affordable Chinese-jank indie game which is worth your while if you have the patience. I personally chose to buy it because I was looking for a RPG which was grindy like an idle game, but with the option for active gameplay and I am not in the least bit disappointed. I'll get the negatives out of the way first: The game isn't pretty, the character models are downright ugly (not that you'll see them up close) and it uses rather a lot of AI art because you can tell that this wasn't exactly developed by a large team. The translation isn't perfectly polished, but it has a perfectly serviceable English translation (access it from the Settings in the lower left when you start the game). I'm trilingual, so I can say that the game doesn't lose much in that regard even if you chose to play it in Chinese. If you view the gameplay trailers, the game would probably come off as trying to be a MMO/World of Warcraft clone, but that would be doing it a disservice to the sheer amount of content the developers have tried to pack into it - which is extremely alarming for a $10 Indie game. The developer(s) are obviously gamers and have chosen a very very wide variety of games to piece together this game from: The main combat (World of Warcraft/FF12/Baldur's Gate/League of Legends/Guild Wars) - A 5-player (World of Warcraft) action based with a MOBA-based mouse control scheme (League of Legends). Right click to move and target, does not support WASD movement (sadly). You can play this like an auto battler with the option to pause and re-assign commands and use items at any time (Baldur's Gate). Has a plethora of interesting gear and abilities with neat interactions and all of these are upgradeable or craftable eventually. Dungeon Exploration (Voice of the Cards/Survival games): Due to possibly a lack of manpower/time/money, the entire dungeon-exploration game is told through cards being laid out on a board. Exploring it requires Shelter, a resource you mainly get from grinding a Fishing minigame. This can get a bit tedious. If you run out of Shelter, you get assaulted by extremely difficult enemies which are pursuing your character for plot-related reasons and this results in an early game-over. Exploration sequences (Valkyrie Profile: Silmeria/Bullet Hell/Gauntlet survival): This game is much more closely related to Valkyrie Profile than it is to World of Warcraft and it shows in the exploration sequences where you either gather resources for crafting while solving puzzles involving photons and crystals almost exactly like Silmeria. These are interspersed with other minigames such as Bullet Hell (Survive an onslaught of projectiles/lasers/AoEs) or Gauntlets (run through a huge hallway of traps). You're given a skill on a cooldown which gives temporary invincibility, but they're still challenging enough to be engaging. There's even a minigame involving racing an enemy faster than you which requires creative thinking. Triple Triad Card game (Final Fantasy 8) - Chinese people tend to love Final Fantasy 8 for some reason, so it's not THAT surprising that they stole the entire Triple Triad game and put it into the game. Cards themselves can be equipped on your party members and give some minor buffs, so there is value into playing the minigame. Story (Valkyrie Profiles) - There is a somewhat interesting story behind this game and it takes far more from Valkyrie Profile than any other game. Your character is dead and has been resurrected by an "evil goddess" valkyrie who apparently isn't so evil after all. She is being chased by other goddesses trying to exterminate her and your mission is to find out what is going on, while recruiting other very dead and absolutely-not-Einherjar people to your cause. The game has a surprising amount of lore put into it if you're willing to take the time to read it and the world-building is actually decent. Ultimately, this is one of those games which looks horrible in the first 30 minutes, but just gets better and better the more time and patience you give to it and considering it's only really a $10 game, I think it's absolutely worth the purchase if you're curious because even though it's very derivative, the sum of its parts adds up to something original and more creative than the hordes of copy-pasted Vampire-Survivor or Slay-the-Spire indie games with better graphics on the market. The sheer amount of content you can get for those ten bucks is staggering.

For English - Once in the game hit esc, then in the bottom left corner click drop down menu then click English. 9/10 - aside from some translation stuff (I'm unbothered by it. Its bad, but I've played MUCH worse) this is essentially WoW but single player.
