I have never heard of Aonatsu Line before until it was released on Steam, but a quick research surprised me. Aonatsu Line was given a scenario award by Moe Game Award (but idk what is it but award is an award) which pushes me to give it a try. My reviews for Aonatsu Line contain some spoilers so proceed with caution. Yui is a close to perfect type of girl, behaves just like a well-mannered lady, hardworking on her grades, giving her very best on everything. Through Yui’s route, I was able to come into an understanding on how Yui treats her precious one and how clumsy she can be at the same time which leads to even more comedies in her route. She never gets out of sight on her goals, once she has her goal locked on, she will never give in until she has succeeded. Most school-life type visual novels usually have a senpai heroine that does the ara ara yasashi onee chan things, but Yui was given this role in the story even though she is not a senpai which is kind of unexpected. But she did her role perfectly through her own route and was able to convince me that she can comfort and stay by Tatsumi’s side when he is hitting a wall. Overall Yui’s route is a very heart-warming route that shows the bonding between her and Tatsumi. Kotone is a kouhai that probably has the most character development in my opinion. At first she is kind of an arrogant girl who looks down on Tatsumi because Tatsumi seems to be good for nothing. Though most of the time she has a sharp tongue, she is also a considerate, thoughtful, forthright girl with an otome heart. But as the story goes on, both of them get to know each other more/spend more time together, Kotone changed her way of treating Tatsumi. It was pretty obvious that she has a crush on Tatsumi but because Tatsumi is dense as hell, she has been doing her best to get close with Tatsumi and in the end they were able to get together. I enjoy reading her route, it's like dating a cute little girlfriend who wants to be spoiled and it really makes your heart skip a beat as you read. Finally, Miki. I have way too much to talk about for Miki’s route, way way way too much. It gets me really emotional, painful to read even though it's a pretty cliche plot but the way the story was written really makes me enjoy every single moment of Miki’s route. So without typing too much of my opinions for Miki’s route, all I want to say is read it for yourself and you will know what I mean. Finishing up Miki’s route makes me feel very relatable in every way, so Miki’s route is definitely my favourite one and it’s going to take a few days to get over with. Tatsumi is one of the types of character I’ve seen a lot in other visual novels, a very low self-esteem, low confidence character. In Yui’s route, he was afraid of losing Yui because she’s way too perfect for him and she might even find someone else that is way better than himself because he isn’t being useful for her at all. In Kotone’s route, he was afraid that Kotone would succeed in her audition and started to go into singing, acting training etc. He was afraid of losing Kotone to the other guys from the idol industry or Kotone was just relying on him to get to her dream and after achieving, he will have no rights to stay by Kotone’s side. In Miki’s route, I get to know more about Tatsumi’s past with Miki. I guess he was in love with Miki and trying to get her attention until he overheard Miki’s friends trying to pair Miki up with Chihiro. It shattered Tatsumi’s heart but he also agreed that both of them would look good if they end up together. I really hate how he didn’t even bother trying to confess to Miki at least but I also understand how he came into such thoughts. It just happens when you are always looking down on yourself, never believing that you have pros other than just a bunch of cons. I am similar to Tatsumi, which is why I wouldn’t say it is Tatsumi’s fault, it's because of his cowardness causing all the dramas going on or what so, but that’s what makes Tatsumi Tatsumi. Chihiro is Tatsumi and Miki’s friend from a long time ago, he is a very cool guy. His entire character is there to further enhance the comedy within the plot while also pushing it to the next climax during common route. His backstory surprised me for a bit as I didn’t foresee it coming. While it also explains a lot how he behaves during the Miki fever chapter and being very cautious as he does not want to destroy the current comfortable status quo they have. I know Chihiro cherishes both Tatsumi and Miki and I am also pretty sure that he also wants both of them to be happy. But at the same time he also blames himself for being friends with Miki and Tatsumi and is afraid that he will be the main reason that separates both of them and causes them to be unable to confront their feelings. Even so, at the end of Miki’s route I am glad that all of them were able to clear everything up, and say goodbye to each other at the end of their final summer together. It was a very impactful and touching moment, and probably one of my favourite moment in Aonatsu Line. Overall Aonatsu Line is a very generic visual novel, but I enjoy my time reading it. It is very seishun, very beautiful, and I love the dramas in Miki’s route. The closure for every single route is bravo, ending songs sung by every individual heroine really represent their feelings in the story. Even the characters' growth are so interesting to watch over, all of these reasons make Aonatsu Line a very good coming of age story, purely amazed how the writer is able to write such a great story. I totally recommend Aonatsu Line if you can read Chinese, otherwise wait for an English patch or English release. Sometimes you might be dragging all your friends into achieving something you really want, and in the end whether it succeeded or not, it's part of your seishun and only yours. Just like this quote in the game 《互相纠缠在一起的“线”,终究会迎来解开的那一天》it means that not everyone will always be together and eventually we will leave each other and move on in our own lives. So please, cherish your own seishun and make sure you are enjoying every moment out of it because if you don’t, one blink of an eye, they are all gone and your life will not be as colorful and you will definitely regret afterward.

This visual novel uses the Unity Engine, and it seems like it's not as efficient as NeXAS in terms of system resource usage. There are also some bugs that are tricky to detect. For example, when I read the episode where Tatsumi, Miki, and Chihiro arrive home after a party and Miki receives a phone call from Chihiro, the visual novel suddenly changed colors and started flashing. The screen appeared to be the color of fountain pen ink, and all three characters' stand-ups appeared simultaneously. I was reading this visual novel late at night, and it really gave me a fright. Once I'd calmed down, I also had to press Ctrl to skip the episode. I was reading this visual novel on a low-end PC, and this problem occurred. When I switched to my high-end PC that I use exclusively for gaming, it didn't happen. Some people might say that it's not a good idea to read this visual novel on a low-end computer. I think so. But I would still say that compared to the NeXAS Engine, this Unity Engine really isn't very good for visual novels, at least not for the developers of HIKARI FIELD.

All three routes are very good! Don't forget to install the R18 patch, or you will get incomplete stories.
