A well made game. Intriguing story. Only a pity that you can't use the mouse (or in my case the touch pad on my laptop) to navigate the menus and the inventory. You have to use TAB to move around, and then ENTER to confirm.

This was a nice discover. I liked the "mock-rpg" approach to puzzles and also the deep theme of the game.
A breath of fresh air, you could say, different but with the same aura of good adventures.
For the price, is an hidden gem, and i hope to play many more games like this.

I've had Midnight Margo on my Steam wishlist for a long time and despite the fact that I've liked Faravid's previous games (especially sci-fi thriller Whispers of a Machine) I shamefully admit I haven't played it until now. Unlike their earlier titles, which were very much classic point & clicks, this is actually a refreshingly new and un-nostalgic variation on the genre.
We play as Margo, a young woman recovering from a year-long depression who finds a forgotten letter buried in a pile of bills on her hallway rug. It's from one of the popular jocks from her old high school, and he wants to meet up and talk about something related to her depression. There's just one problem: He recently died under unclear circumstances, and his funeral is tonight... Can you find out what he wanted and get some closure before it's time to give his eulogy?
Gameplay-wise, it's a mix of classic adventure games as well as RPG:s, but with a down-to-earth twist: RPG-like stats that affect Margo's self-esteem/attitude can be changed by putting on different clothes and accessories during the game, and by equipping the right combo we can overcome social situations, solve different puzzles and progress the story.
It's not a perfect game by any measure - sometimes it's quite unclear that there are multiple exits to a scene, and it's easy to get stuck and miss a crucial location because you simply didn't realize that you could walk all the way outside of the screen... It's not the end of the world, but it's still annoying and something that could have been easily avoided.
Apart from that, MM is an interesting little experiment in the adventure game genre, with an everyday, melancholic story about mental illness, old grudges and small-town life, but not without mixing in some absurd humor to keep it digestable.
All in all: highly recommended for fans of games like Night in the Woods and Perfect Tides, especially for the current price tag.

I don't usually write reviews (I generally prefer to yell them at strangers on the train) but I think that Midnight Margo slipped through the cracks somehow and really deserves a lot more recognition than it has received. I've been playing similar games since the mid 80's and MM won't be a game that I soon forget about.. it's unique and interesting and has its own thing going on.
Other reviews will have more to say, I'll just say that if you like these sort of games you should definitely get a copy of MM and give it a shot.. then buy a few more copies for like-minded friends as the game is criminally under-priced!
Out of a scale from 1 through to Z with 0 being just okay and © being pretty dang good, I award Midnight Margo the prestigous double ɱ rating!

It's such a cute game! The art style is cute and ever so slightly creepy- in a good way. I just wish there was a save/mouse feature. I couldn't figure out how to get to the settings menu, since the keybinds are different on a mac. A lot of effort was clearly put into this!
